I had the same exact thing about a week after post op. I was also getting a little shaky. If you are anything like me (I was and still am a carb lover) then the nausea is coming from your body being in a state of shock from the 100% absence of carbs. You're surviving on broth, sugar free popcycles, water, and crystal light I believe? What I did was made a small pot of instant mashed potatoes on the runny side I used beef broth instead of water left out the salt, milk, and butter. Then I got a can of vegetable beef soup. I combined the soup and the tators and puried them until they were between a thick liquid and a thin liquid (I don't know how to explain that better). I put the majority in a freezer container and SLOWLY sipped on a small cup. It may have only taken about 1/4 cup and I was full and felt satisfied- for a while. In the first few weeks post op I found protein could keep me satisfied for HOURS and carb-loaded stuff about half the time. As for sleeping better- walk, walk some more, and then walk even more.
In my 1st week post up I got myself walking 5-10 miles a day. The pain disappeared out of my shoulder and I was digesting food better and beyond tired when I hit the sheets.
Hope this helps :)

broccoli and cheese soup that really kept me full also I would put in extra cheese cause of the protein. A cup of that would keep me full for a good three hrs at a time.
Now I dont know about your doc, but when I was at this stage I could drink as much soup as I wanted as long as I kept it down .
I had no limits on the soups you can call and ask your doc about this . Mine didn't get strict with the one cup rule till I was about four weeks out :o)
I hope you feel better and trust me it does get better hang in there !!!!!

I felt this way this morning, on day 5 post-op. My instructions allowed me cream of wheat, so I made the following:
1/4 c cream of wheat + 1 1/4 c water put together cold in a pan and cooked until "done", then added 1/2 c skim milk and maybe 1 1/2 tbsp sharp cheddar cheese. Added a bit of salt, some white pepper and garlic powder.
It sounds weird, but it totally satisfied me! (southern girl was craving grits but am totally not allowed them) I ate about 1/4 of it but saved it for breakfasts this week.

My hubby is 6days post-op and he is a lil hungry. The dr. has him still on a liquid diet, just like the one he did for 14 days before surgery. They said he could do cream of chicken soup, but he is scared to eat it because he doesn't want to be sick. He can't wait until mushy foods. That will be next week when I have my surgery. He sleeps in the recliner. We bought a chair & 1/2 recliner, because I wanted a chair for my living room. But also for us to sleep in after surgery. He tried to sleep in the bed last night and only made it for about an hour.
Did the dr. give you anything for nausea???
Hope you get better...
GOOD LUCK
Lynn

Hang in there. I can remember being so hungry. I actually broke down and started crying at my 10 day postop checkup because I had conviced myself that he would let me start on soft foods at that time. When he said no..... I just started bawling. Like I sat out in my car for 15 mins and cried. I was soooooo hungry. Just hang in there..... food is just around the corner. Just do what you have to do to get through.

Call you surgeon and ask for a med for nausea. Zofran is a good med for nausea and it comes in a oral dissolving form where you put the pill under your tongue and it dissolves.
Nausea can be caused by dehydration. How many ounces of fluid are you getting in?
Ask your surgeon about what you can and can't have for foods at this point and let them know you are hungry.
Fluids go right through the band. It takes many months before the band helps a lot with hunger, for some. I went 3 months without any fluid in my band and didn't have much hunger, but some people are hungry right from the start. We are all different.
You are only a week out and it takes time to be able to sleep good through the night. I slept in a recliner after surgery.
It will get better. One step forward at a time!
