Weird feeling in throat

I am almost 3 months out from my getting my band placed and had my 1st and last fill over a month ago.

Things have been great and I've lost 59 lbs since surgery but about a week ago, I started feeling like there is something in the middle of my throat.  Every day and most of the time.  It doesn't hurt but feels weird.  I can eat and swallow with no problems.  I read that some people feel tighter while getting ready to start their periods ( I should start in 3 days).

I stopped taking my heart burn med. about the same time as this started but I haven't had heartburn since.

Does anyone know what is going on?

Tightness should not be felt in your throat.  Is it constant or just sometimes after you eat?  I believe it's always best to ask your surgeon.  If you can eat without difficulty and you're not in pain it can probably wait until your next appointment, but if you're concerned make the phone call.

Congrats on the awesome results!

It's not there in the morning but right after I drink or have my breakfast, its there and all day long.  Its feels more like I'm having an allergic reaction to something and feels like my throat is closing but doesn't hurt and isn't making me out of breath or anything.

I don't go back to the dr. till the middle of June....I guess I'd better go in.....

When my band was toooo tight that was what I felt. It was like a pressure in the middle of my throat. If it is time for period and you were trying to eat or drink early in morning that is never good for me, so it may just be that. Just be careful and don't let it go on without asking your Dr office.

This sensation (for me) is usually a build up of mucous.

It is typical during allergy season.

My doc says that we are constantly making mucous in our sinus cavities, and usually it just goes down the back of our throats into our abdomen with no indication to us at all.

During allergy season, it intensifies, and it cannot clear out quickly enough -- and we feel as though we have to constantly clear our throats.
I have had to have 2 very small un-fills in the last 2 years due to this.

I sometimes try Mucinex to thin out the mucous, but if that doesn't work, I go in for a little unfill.

If there is any burning in it --- it could be stomach acid coming UP instead of mucous trying to go DOWN your throat -- and that is nothing to mess around with -- if it is acidic at all, talk to your surgeon soon.

When my thyroid gets inflamed it feels like something in my throat. It doesn't hurt, it just feels weird. I have Hashimoto's disease (hypothyroid) and if I eat the wrong thing, it makes my thyroid inflame, most especially eating cabbage-type plants (cabbage, brocolli, cauliflower and brussel sprouts).  This condition makes my body attack its own thyroid and acts like its a foriegn body, according to the endocronologist. You can have a thyroid codition for years before it maybe detected.  Hope its not that, but that is the way my throat feels when my thyroid inflames.

I've been robbed! My grandbaby stole my heart!  She just raised her hands and I surrendered.

Thanks everyone.  I waited this morning to eat and so far, so good.  I also stopped and got some of my heartburn med., just in case its that.

Will call the dr. if it continues!

Back in 2001 when I was first diagnosed with GERD, this was one of the symptoms I had.  As the year progressed (Feb Robbery in my SBUX store, earthquake next day, March found out my brother was dying and he passed in April and then September....) my Gerd got worse and the "lump" in my throat became worse and worse...nexium helped.  I was diagnosed with a hiatal hernia last year during my pre-op testing...I only use PPIs a couple of times a week at half the previous dose.
Should get that checked out asap...

Just wondering if you resolved this issue.  I have had a foreign body sensation in my throat for almost three months.  It came on after my first fill and worse by my second fill.  I had CT scan of throat.  Biopsy of lingual tonsil which was normal lingual tonsil.  UGI does not show much but getting endoscopy next week.  Doctors are baffled.  Labband PA does not think it is band related but I do.  Do not feel it during the night or upon awakening in the morning.  After I eat, I have it for the rest of the day.    They unfilled my band for the UGI and now I have been filled only to my first fill which was less than they normaly fill on the first fill.  I have lost 43 pounds since lapband surgery on December 28th but has been challenging as I have not been filled more than 3 cm's and have been living with being unfilled and waiting 8 weeks between fills.  Does anyone have any info for me.  UGI showed no acid relux and no hiatal hernia pre-op.  I am in very good health.  Down to 208 lbs.  Just looking for answers.  Thank you.

Never did find out what it was and it is gone for the most part.  I didn't go or ask my doc about it.  I do get that feeling from time to time still but I have noticed its when I have been stressed about something or have eaten too much or too fast.
I hope you find your answers!!
