Slime problem

I'm having problems with slime.  Unlike what most people post about slime, it doesn't seem to happen to me because food is stuck.  It always happens after the first few small well-chewed bites of food.  It's like my little pouch has filled up with saliva since my last meal, and then when a bit of food goes into the pouch, it pushes all that sitting slime up into my throat and I have to throw it up.  When I throw up, the food doesn't come up, only the slime, and then I can usually eat my meal after.  I don't know why this happens, because I'm eating slow, chewing well, and it happens after only the first bite or two, so it's not that I'm full.  If I eat something before a meal that can "soak up" the slime/saliva sitting in my otherwise empty pouch, that seems to work.  But, the foods I've found that can "soak up" the slime is bad stuff like chips!  Plus, I can't always eat something 15 minutes before a meal, especially if at a restaurant.  Help!

The only ideas I have are:
1. Are you too tight?
2. Do you have some sort of GI issue?
I suggest you call your surgeons office and see what they say. K

There is something called "first bite syndrome" some of us get where, like you, after the first bite or 2 we start to slime. The only way I've been able to stop it is to take tiny, tiny bites and go super slow while the tummy gets ready for the incoming food. By tiny I mean pencil eraser size or even smaller and completely chew tthe food to liquidy  before swallowing and most important make sure one bite is completely down before taking another. Sometime I just have to wait a few minutes between bites to make sure it has stayed down. If it continues then you may be too tight and need a tiny unfill. Good luck.

Thank you, it's reassuring to hear that I'm not the only one having this problem, and it even has a name: First Bite Syndrome"!  I'll try your suggestions.  I never heard about this being a possible side effect, and for me it's the most frustrating (and gross), and makes eating in front of people risky.  It's kind of focing me to be a secret eater again, this time not because of secret binging, but instead because of secret sliming!
