Hi All,
I am in my 4th week of post op.  I  am dying to chew sugarless gum but have resisted because I recall a pre-op meeting where the Nutritionist said it was not a good idea.  Any thoughts?

Follow the rules since you're so "new"... but if you really want it, call and ask your surgeon's office what they say...

I think the fear is that you "may" swallow it.  At least that's what my surgeon's office said when I asked.  However, I'm an adult and I know I'm not going to accidently swallow it.. LOL

I know I couldnt live without my gum. I chew gum EVERY single day.   I usually have 3-4 packs of different kinds at all times.  1 is in my desk drawer in my office, 1 pack in my car, and 2 packs in my purse.

If you decide to chew on some gum, just be very careful not to swallow it. Don't chew gum while watching TV.

Since were speaking of chewing gum.......

Every time I see someone chewing their gum like a cow chewing its cud. It makes me want to go up to them and slap them across the back of their heads and tell them to.....
STOP CHEWING GUM WITH YOUR MOUTH OPEN DAMN IT.

Chewing gum .. I guess I suck in too much air and it produces too much gas for me so I can't chew gum
