NSV, Lisa on a roll!

I met my husband 4 years ago when I weighed 335 lbs.  He used to roller blade a lot in his 20's and 30's and I used to roller skate as a teen.  He REALLY wanted me to try roller-blading so shortly after we go married he bought me roller blades.  We pulled the cars out oft he garage and laced and buckled on the skates only to find out that I was terrified!!!  I'm already 5'10" and with the skates I felt like I was miles off the ground with a long, long way to fall.  I had no coordination, my ankles were wobbling and I couldn't let go of my DH.  THAT was the extent of my roller-blading experience!

Today was a beautiful sunny day in the Pacific Northwest and DH decides we should try roller-blading.  I was skeptical but thought, well, I have lost 100+ lbs...maybe I can do it this time.  I put on my skates and was pretty sure I wouldn't be able to even stand BUT not only did I stand, I skated around the garage without falling!  DH took off down the street and left me clinging to the car, but I thought, what the heck?  Off I went and I DID IT!  I skated, I used the brakes and we skated hand-in-hand around the block TWICE!

I'm sure it wasn't a real pretty site, me with my arms flailing like a windmill more than a few times, but it was fun and I can definately see myself improving with practice.  Probably most important, boy could I feel it!  My calves, thighs, butt and lower back are going to be complaining tomorrow, but it felt good to be out in the sunshine with my sweetie skating like a kid!

Never say never!  Roller blading at 48!  Who would have guessed?!

I love my band!

Good job Lisa. I used to roller skate, with my husband and daughter, but that was a long time ago. I was always afraid of roller blades. Congrads on your success.

It is a beautiful day today!  About time!  Good for you...that must have felt good!  I took my dog Eddie around the block for a little walk...

Way to go!!!  I tried it once after I bought a pair of $10.00 inline skates at a Warehouse Outlet near my home.  My son helped me and even though I could barely stand, the laughter was enough to make it worth it.  I think I might have peed myself a little.  haha

Can't wait to hear more adventures!

Awesome Lisa!  Proud of you.  All of that arm waving just burned a few more cals and worked out your arm muscles also!

Sounds like you had more fun than I did.  We cleaned out a spare bedroom, put up shelves in it and reorganized a lot of stuff!  Cleaned closets and so much more.... hahaha   I have exactly 4 weeks until our son's Graduation party. Lots of spring cleaning to do.

Yeah for you!!!

I could never even roller-skate w/o holding onto the wall of the rink, so I'm impressed at anyone who can rollerblade to ANY degree.

Go you!!  Next stop Roller Derby??
