I had been taking Viactiv as per my nut for calcium supplementation but a friend told me about adora.  They are milk or dark chocolate calcium disks.  They are very yummy and have 500mg calcium + vit k and d same as my viactivs.  The only problem I may want to overeat them.

Their motto: "crave your calcium" LOL

I think I may put them in my work bag so I can treat my self at work twice a day...

calcium carbonate.  :(    I'm told to take calcium citrate.

According to my nut calcium carbonate is ok for LB patients as we don't malabsorb. But I'd go by whatever you're nut tells you

I agree.. follow what your bariatric professionals advise.

The reasoning they give us for the citrate is that although banders don't malabsorb, we do have reduced stomach acid.  Therefore the carbonate isn't absorbed as well as citrate.

I'm no chemist or nutritionist.. I just follow as long as it makes sense and works for me.  :)

Glad you like the Adora.. sounds pretty good.

Calcium is still something I'm struggling to get my head around.  My surgeon recommended citracal petites  - holy crud those are huge!  I was terrified taking the first one for fear it would get stuck.

Are you sure you got the petites?   I've had those before and they're way smaller than the regular calcium.

Yeah defo the petites.  They're smaller than the regular, but they're still huge by my standards, especially since I'm not even on solid food yet.  :x

If your surgeon wants you on calcium citrate, like mine does.. check out the chewables at Bariatric Advantage.  A little more $$ than citracal, but I think worth it.

They have chewable tablets and "chewy bites".. both pretty good.
