DESPERATE, Please Help
HI,
As a former bandster with numerous problems, you need to go to an emergency room in a public hospital and do not leave until someone helps you. Cry plead or throw up on the floor if you have to. I am sure that if you make a liability issue that becomes theirs if you die or pass out in the waiting room, they will be forced to take care of you.

I agree totally you need to have this checked "Please" go to the ER. If it's not a private hospital they will have to treat you a radiologist can do an fluro check and unfill if needed. Hope you get relief soon Keep us posted on how you are doing.

Update:
I called Dr. Baptista yesterday and explained in full to 2 different members of their office. They were very informative and honest. Their program fee is MUCH less than what I had been quoted in the past as well as office visits/adjustments. About half the cost of many other physicians.
The direction they gave me was to go into the ER in which she told me exactly which one and tell the ER about the lack of liquid intake as well as to inform them I have been having progressively worse issues since I had pnuemonia. She stated it is common that the band can slip for patients especially with pnuemonia as excessive coughing can put alot of stress on the esophagus which causes pressure on the band.
So my plan is to get someone to watch my kids (so far I can get someone for Friday/Saturday, but not sooner) and go to the ER. Hopefully this works. Im nervous about the diagnosis.
Again, thanks to EVERYONE for your support, advice, input. :)

Tiffany, I am glad you called Dr. Baptista. When I was at the worst of my complications, I just broke down, bawling my head off in Dr. Horgan's office in Chicago. Dr. Baptista was one of his fellows and he jumped up, put his arm around me and said, "It's OK, Nicci, we're gonna take care of you. We're gonna help you!" And he did! Dr. Horgan (who is now in San Diego) was my primary surgeon, but Dr. Baptista was there every step of the way. He's the most compassionate doctor I've ever met personally. It would be worth seeing if you could become a patient of his. He trained with one of the best bariatric specialists in the world. (Dr. Horgan)
I hope they can help you in the ER. Please take care of yourself. I am concerned for you.
Nicci

Tiffany,
I'm so sorry for your troubles. You really do not have a choice in the situation. You must go to an ER.Make it very dramatic and say you have been vomiting and can't keep anything down, even fluids. It will be treated as an obstruction and they will have to treat you. It is very important to go somewhere that does bariatric surgery so they call the on call bariatric surgeon! I went to the ER once after I had a fill and it'closed up' on me the next day. The on call (non bariatric) surgeon stuck me 17 times before he found the port-I don't recommend it, but it was an emergency. I would get a complete unfill until everything gets back on track.
I work in a medical office and as far as your balance, contact the collection agency or billing department and tell them your story. Ask if they will accept a payment plan? If you can send even $5 a week, it shows them a good faith effort that you want to pay the bill and in our office we always work with patients like that.
I hope it works out for you. Please keep us updated.

Part of the reason I haven't paid that particular bill is because my soon-to-be-ex-husband wrote me a letter the day he left stating "There is money in the bank, you have everything you need, my medical insurance will continue until you have a job and insurance of your own. Sorry I had to do this." When in reality he stole $87,000 from the account cancelled the insurance and ran up $250,000 in debt he placed in my name. So when I was going to the Dr, thinking I had insurance I had no idea I was getting myself deeper into a hole I had no idea existed.
As of last week I have an attorney (pro-bono), my divorce has been filed as of yesterday and his court summons should be in his hands by the of the week. Which I am sure will surprise him as he has no idea I know where he is :)
My attorney is having me go for everything I can. Since I was not working and a full time student when he left he has me asking for Rehabilitative Alimony as well as repayment for all debt incurred during our marriage that I did NOT incur (which thanks to internet banking I can prove). So in 3-6 months or so I should be a little better off financially and have the ability to go back to college and finish my degree.
As for my kids. The man I am with now I have known for a LONG LONG time he is the father of "my kids" who technically are not actually mine they can be considered my future step kids but I have know them and been a part of their life since they were born. I was there when their mom she passed away. Years later their dad and I bonded after he and I both suffered similar situations in our 2nd marriages and now we intend to get our lives straight before we get married to one another. Bad luck hit both of us in the fact we were laid off together in 2008. He has a much more specialized career than I and has had the same if not worst luck than I in regards to a job. Its been a horrible 2.5 years but we've both been through worse and being with him makes it better. He is the same as all of you- "Who cares of it costs a million dollars I need you the kids need you..why are we still sitting here?"
I have to say while I am just telling the whole world about my life here (eek) it does feel good to get all this out. I apologize for my long posts but besides my honey and kids I have no one else I talk to. They are my family and Im still new to Jacksonville.
