Weight gain
I am about two weeks post-op. I have started on purees/mushies. I got on the scale this morning and gained 2 pounds. I know this is supposed to happen, or has to others. I am just worried.
Now that I am eating again and off liquids for the first time in three weeks, I feel fat anytime I eat any food at all. I also feel I am eating all fattening things causing the weight gain. I am eating 1 cup of food for each meal. I eat three meals a day. Here is an example meal plan for me:
Breakfast: protein shake
Lunch: 1/2 sweet potato, 1/4 c. cottage cheese
Supper: 1/2 c. mashed potatoes, 1/4 c. ham salad
What do you think I could do in order to continue my weight loss and not gain weight? Was this the typical meal plan for you when you were doing the puree/mushie stage?

As many folks will tell you, don't focus on the food, focus on the healing. At this point your body is getting over surgery and you are still healing. I would say though to totally focus on protein. At the mushy/puree stage I was able to eat ricotta cheese with a little marinara sauce on top and nuked, yogurt, really soft tuna. I didn't puree anything, that was just darn nasty.
The sweet potatoes and mashed potatoes could be replaced with something a little higher in protein. It is a personal choice of course but I am 4 1/2 weeks out and I have not had any potatoes, pasta or bread at all. It's far too difficult just to get my dense protein in, there is rarely any room for anything else.
Your weight loss will come. Right now focus on following the rules to a T!
Good luck!

It is great to be off of liquids, I know I was happy.......most likely you are having more carbs now than you did on liquids and it may be adding some water weight. No need to worry you are healing and I believe what you do now affects your band later.
Of course you need to follow your Surgeons instructions to a T (not all are the same) we still had to get in our protein requirements even while on mushies....... you'd might want to add some Greek yogurt, I got real friendly with my blender and tried to grind up different things to a hash like consistency ..........my Mom bought some meat baby food but I just couldn't take the texture of the meat.
I didn't weigh at all, only at my surgeons office........I was so happy to think that I could just eat right, till I was satisfied and not have to "diet" again and weighing myself made me feel like I was on a diet.
Your body weight will fluctuate, I know it is tough but I would focus more on healing, moving and getting ready mentally for this journey.........
