Actually your Dr. may have never mentioned this to you, but you may NEVER reach restriction! A lot of bandsters don't. Some are lucky and do have great restriction with the band...................but don't count on it. It's a crap shoot! :-(

Hope your one of the lucky ones!

Gee, thanks for the encouragement, Debbie Downer.

Look, people come to these boards for encouragement, not for you to crap on them. I'm sorry you had a bad time with your band. But, like everyone has said, everyone's experiences are different. The least you could do is be encouraging and supportive to those who come to this board. If you are unhappy with the band, I'm sorry.

I know I am coming off as attacking and that is not usually me, but doggoneit, I've rarely ever seen you post anything encouraging. This person is looking for encouragement, not "you MIIIIIIIGHT have success but chances are you're going to FAIL" posts.

Try encouraging people instead of sending negative energy. It's amazing what happens when you do.

Thanks,
La Professora

~Look, people come to these boards for encouragement, not for you to crap on them.~

But shouldn't they come to these boards for the TRUTH??? How is telling them the truth crapping on them???

I wish someone had told me initially so I wouldn't have wasted so much time and effort on my band!

What about the lies some of the other bandsters spread on here when someone posts about a problem? "All you have to do is follow the rules and the band will work!" BULL ****! That is true for SOME not for ALLL!

So instead of complaining to me about me telling a bandster the TRUTH, shouldn't you be more angry at them for telling bandsters LIES????

Oh my gosh Maria the poster is freaking 5 weeks out of damn surgery you are not even giving her a chance to find restriction and you are telling her she might not find it and she might fail

Are you that cold hearted  ? Why in the world would you tell somebody that is just 5 weeks out of surgery this ?

Why dont you give her a chance with this surgery instead of scaring the hell out of her and her thinking she isnt going to find no restriction at all.

5 weeks is NOT going to tell anything you know that all you are doing is stiring up trouble and freaking this poster out for no reason at all !!!!!!!!

I am telling her something she should have been told BEFORE she had surgery! It's a fact. NOT everyone gets restriction! Ha NOTHING to do with being cold hearted. I sincerely hope she does have a band that works. Unfortunately............that is NOT the case with everyone!

I have no way of knowing weather she will reach restriction or not. But don't you think she should be prepaired for the possibility??? Do you really think that it is best for her NOT to know what the band can really be like???

Maria,
She is ONLY 5 weeks out of surgery and I think you could be a little more supportive then that. For ***** sake even I hate the band and I wouldn't have said that to someone fresh out of surgery.

I will discourage everybody I come across from getting the band, but she is ONLY 5 weeks out.

You're not alone, my friend.  I'm going through the same thing.  Having a really difficult time with it.  Unfortunately, it's not just the hunger pangs, but it's the emotional need/desire to eat as well (for me at least).  How wonderful it is to have the support of these forums to help us a little bit.  Hang in there, Kiddo---I'm trying to do the same.  I go in on Tues. for my fist fill.  I hope there is an improvement!

Hi Omar...as you heal and swelling goes down around your surgical site your band can become looser...also as you lose some weight post-op, you will lose some fat from around your organs (stoma*****luded) and this can cause your band to have little or no restriction.

When are you scheduled for a fill???

Focus on eating primarily protein...and one cup per meal.  Snack were ok for me, 3 x per day, and I ate a lot of cheese sticks (low fat) and jerkey.  Your snacks should be about 100 cal and low carb.

Make sure to drink all your water and limit caloric beverages.
