Hi there,

I agree with Karrie it really depends on the person.

I myself can not do to low of a carb diet .  I have tried it and I stall on weightloss and I get dizzy if I go to low .

Plus I do alot of zumba through the week and I need the extra carbs for my exercise if not then I will get down right  dizzy and almost pass out if I go to low.

I think you will just need to play around with the carbs and see what works best for you .

I get dizzy too, but hoping I can detox the intense dependence sugar and regulate my blood sugar. I already feel like a shaky, jumpy drug addict after 14 hours without carbs. I'm so pathetic! LOL

Atkin's is tricky but lord it works for me.

As a pre-op diet, I'm doing it now and I've only been eating this way for 4 days (Sat, Sun, Mon and Tues) and I'm 5 pounds down.

You have to be strict with yourself but it's really helpful.

Best of luck hun!

I don't do the low carb thing as far as South Beach or Atkins.  I just follow my own plan too...which is no processed foods.  I have been reading a lot lately and the more I read the more I realize how bad it is to eat this crud.  I have been sticking to the "if it didn't come from a mother or wasn't grown from the ground" ....I don't eat it.  If it was made in a chemist's lab then I avoid it.
The chemicals in the processed food that we eat messes with our hormones that tell us when we are full or the hormones that tell us we are hungry.  Thus making us fatter and fatter.

As far as the cravings I found the longer I stay away from the processed foods the less I crave them.  I really believe there is an addictive chemical in those processed foods we eat making them so hard to quit.  I too also stay away from fast food places.  Place like McDonald's and Burger King spray all of there food with sugar in the processing plant...making them more addicting and more tasty.  I did lose weight faster after switching to clean, whole foods.  I also feel more energy and I sleep better.  Again it's all of those chemicals in the these foods messing with your finely balanced hormones.

I could go on and on about this subject....it's a new passion of mine.

Oh trust me, I'm right there with ya! I grow lots of my own veggies, I buy orgnanic, and local organic grassfed beef and poultry. I agree 100%. I think the chemicals mess up our hormones, cause cancers, and are just downright addictive and bad. HOWEVER....

There is a disconnect between what I know and what I choose to ignore when a cadbury creme egg is all I can think about.

I agree with your way of eating, that's basically my "perfection eating" goal. I think all fruits/veggies/ natural things are best and I sort f lean towards the "paleolithic diet" theory ( that man evolved on, and were designed to eat, primarily lean meat/veggies and moderate amnts of fruit/whole grains).

I'm doing this "strict" phase as a sort of detox...a way to cleanse my palatte so that when I reintroduce carbs they are more enjoyable in small amounts.

Well I had the band done 1 year ago on the 14th of April lost 40lbs and had only one small fill in November 2010, here it is and I am stuck and havent lost anymore weight and really wishing I havent done the band.  I called the doctor and will have a fill on May 12th so I am hoping that this will help.. I have 50 lbs to lose yet , I have been reading about the low carb diet so perhaps I will try that.. any suggestions please feel free to let me know.  thanks and you are doing great.

I do my own variation that works well for me. As others have said, the first few days are hell. I just have to white knuckle it. For the first week I only do meat and veggies, plus cheese and yogurt + a Pure protein bar if I really need it. After that I add oatmeal and a whole grain bread if I want it. Beyond that, nothing. The cravings decrease dramatically for me and I am a whole lot more comfortable.

I just decided last night that I need to start this again, so this is my first day. Wall climbing here I come. After the worst it is very well worth it, though I could never do the true low carb.

Good luck if you decide to go for it.
