I'm getting together stuff I will need post-op. What kind of liquid tylenol did you use? Is there an adult kind or just take a bigger dose of the childrens version. Also, what about chewable vitamins.... Do Flintstone's chewables taste ok or is there another brand that is good?

Thanks - Denise

Denise,
I've never used liquid tylenol, but there was a post from earlier today or yesterday saying the poster found liquid tylenol at walmart and walgreens.  As far as vitamins, you should probably check with your nutritionist/surgeon.  Mine are not happy about me using Flintstones, but at my last lab work up, the only deficiency I had was vitamin d.  They also said to absolutely not use gummy vitamins.  I get the chewable calcium and seperate vitamin d from GNC.    If you are getting prescriptions, I would advise getting them filled early and also doing your grocery shopping early for the liquid/mushie stages.  A heating pad really helped me with the gas pain in my shoulders, too.

My surgeon says chewable children's vitamins are not appropriate for adults, even if you take two of them. He's ok with centrum though.  Centrum makes a chewable that is tolerable.. doesn't taste great, but I'm not taking it for the taste.. lol.  I take a chewable vitamin C with it to help the iron absorb and that does help.

If you want to go bariatric.. both bariatric advantage and celebrate make chewable vitamins.  I use the BA chewable calcium as it is Calcium Citrate and it's hard to find Calcium citrate in a chewable.  Most chewable calcium is calcium carbonate and that's not as well absorbed by bariatric patients.

One more thought...

Don't take multivitamins and calcium within 2 hours of each other.  The iron in the multi will interfere with the absorbtion of the calcium.

And calcium should be taken in divided doses during the day.. not all at once.
