Stressing

Okay! I am so excited about this surgery and the possibility of something working for me. I am looking forward to a healthy weight. So I am going to my appointments and trying to lose 5% of my weight because I read it is good to do not that my doc required it.
So here is the problem. I know the risks about complications and I am aware of the stories from the people that had the band fail them and/or cause them terrible problems. The risks that really worry me are infection 10% of people who get an infection after surgery die. Blood clots are my second biggest worry. It didn't help that I visited the main forum this past week for the first time. Thanks for listening! I know I posted something similar a few weeks back but I need to talk about what I am feeling.
You will be fine :o) its common right before surgery to get these kind of feelings. Heck 24 hrs before my surgery I wanted to cancel the whole thing lol.
Blood clots I dont think there is to much to worry about , yes it can happen but they put these things on my legs that keep the blood moving through the body during surgery so that helps so you dont clot .
Plus the biggest thing is you are up and walking within 30 min of getting back to your room and that will keep you from getting clots and they give you meds for it also.
i was up and walking 15 min after I got back to my room. The risks for clotting is the ones that have to stay in bed for hrs and hrs at a time after surgery , we dont do that they make you get up and walk :o)
Of all the yrs that my doc has been doing this surgery he has never had one single person die from infection in fact he has never had anybody die on the table from this surgery.
That was the first thing I asked also . I was terrified I have a son a husband and I thought for sure I wouldn't come out alive from that operating room.
Please dont worry there is nothing to worry about . Yes there are risks but to be honest with you all surgeries have risks no matter what you go in for . You will be just fine dont stress !! And this is coming from the biggest baby alive lol.

Risks DURING and immediately after Lap-Band surgery are extremely low! It's all the complications that can occur AFTER the Lap-Band surgery that you should be concerned about!!!
Do yourself a favor and visit the revision forum! You will see tons of ppl on there that are revising FROM the band. If the band was that great......you wouldn't have all those ppl wanting to put theirselves through the pain and expense of yet another WLS now would you???
