Missing You Like Candy...
I don't really miss anything like I thought I would. It's been over 2 years that I've had a whole diet Coke and I thought that was going to be a huge struggle. I haven't eaten anything at McDonalds except for a 4 pc McNuggat and a couple of 150 calorie ice cream cones. I used to HAVE to eat a Q Pounder, fries AND a fillet-o-fish everytime I went there! The transformation has been amazing! In fact, now when we go to Mexican and I eat the insides out of my favorite burrito, I get kind of sick when I look around and see obese people eating the huge platter of food I used to eat! There are some things that can truly change without mouring the loss. For me it's portion size.
What I discovered is that I can eat pretty much anything with some slight variations. I thought I'd never be able to have a burger, Chinese, Thai, Mexican, Dim Sum, Ribs, etc. But I have and still do eat most of my favorites.
I guess if I had to choose the only thing I miss is biting into a big, homecooked hamburger. The only thing I don't really eat anymore, (not because I can't, but becuase I choose not to, is bread. So, today I wrap my burgers in a lettuce leaf or eat the patty with all the goodies with a knife and fork.
This tool is not about deprivation. It's about making healthier choices and limiting portions. The band will help with the portions, but only YOU can decide what you're willing to eat.
Best~

gosh really there isn't anything I miss food wise I still eat all the same foods before I got banded, I'm just more careful how often I eat t hem foods and how much of them foods I eat .
The one thing I do miss is my Pepsi though. There are times I would love to have a ice cold Pepsi .
Because I have no fluid in me the carbonation might not give me any problems but I'm to scared to find out and I havent had a Pepsi in 5 months now *sigh* lol.
I miss my Pepsi more then I do my foods lmao

I agree with Lisa - I can still eat *almost* everything as long as I modify it a little.
I would also agree that I miss biting into a nice big SANDWICH! Either a burger with the bun, or a turkey club on toasted rye bread....YUM!!! I also stay away from most bread. And when I choose to have some, it's only a few bites.
The only other thing I can think of is a big, juicy steak. Again, I have had steak since being banded, but can usually only tolerate a few bites. Even the most tender cuts of filet mignon seem to cap out at 4 - 5 TINY bites for me. Pizza falls into that category for me too. I can only have a few tiny bites of the crust - even if it's thin crust. But still, I can't really say I "miss" these foods because I can have a taste of them anytime I want.
That's one of the things I love most about my band!!!

I don't miss anything either! I don't eat bread, rice or pasta, but that is my choice. I find it amazing how my 3 oz of meat and a little veggie/whole grain takes me longer to eat than someone with a huge plate of food.
I used to live on Diet Mt.Dew, maybe 5-6 cans a day and haven't had one since a week before my surgery and I don't miss it a bit.
And I agree with Lisa O. watching people eat what I used to eat is scary. It is amazing how our minds change and before it was never enough food for me, and now it's just perfect!

I'm from NY, so a really good, gooey slice of pizza. I could probably have some, but I'm afraid to try it. Plus, I decided I will wait until I'm in maintenance mode. I have tried Shelley's Ricotta Bake which is great, and I also made portabello mushroom pizzas. It's not the same, but it's still pretty good. I would rather have that and continue to lose weight.
