Now I've Seen It All. A New Low For OH

AN ADVERTISEMENT FOR JENNY CRAIG WEIGHT LOSS. I JUST SAW IT FLASHING ACROSS THE TOP OF THIS FORUM. A NEW LOW FOR OBESITY HELP. LORD HELP US ALL. IF OUR BANDS, VSG, RNY, FOBI POUCH, MINI GASTRIC BYPASS, DS, PLICATION OR REVISIONS FAIL WE CAN TRY JENNY CRAIG.

Why I have an ad blocker on my PC.  

 This is not the only ad that's a new low...lol....I guess that's for all the vets who's pouch has stretched and is forced to do it the old fashion way....DIET.

  One of a few.   OH has now gone full circle.  If WLS surgery fails you can as you said, "DIET."  Nana, we can take the new EASY WAY OUT.  Jenny Craig.    Why didn't I do that in the first place and not spend so much money on my surgery?

I am grateful for the site, I expect they do what they have to do to pay for it... I figure hey....maybe it is what will work for someone...heck if someone is just looking and sees and tries that ...well one of two things will happen...A it will work and HEY MORE POWER TOO THEM...B. they come back and think about more options.   

I don't really care about the ads....I never been an impulse shopper online. :)

Several months ago, there were ads for Skid Steer Loaders.  I'm sure I was the only one seeing them up above.  Why?  Because earlier my DH had been online looking for skid loader parts.   Other people have mentioned seeing ads for things they had been searching for online.  I thought it was funny to see the Skid Loader advertisements. 

The ads don't bother me at all.  They keep us from having to pay to participate.  Plus, many bandsters still use other diets like WW, Jenny Craig, etc. for structure and motivation.  I joined WW this year for the weekly accountability and positive reinforcement.  Others may not cook and would choose JC as a way to have portion controlled meals delivered so they don't have to do the cooking.  The band is just a tool.  Unfortunately, it doesn't cook, it doesn't make good food choices for us and it doesn't give out gold stars.

IMO, whatever works as long as it's legal and healthy is o.k by me.  If OH needs to sell advertising to keep this a free site, I'm all for it.

if I could afford Jenny Craig, I'd purchase the perfectly portioned meals to be delivered to my door in a hear beat!  I think that we need all the tools we can get and afford.

Those that use their weight loss surgery in addition to outside support seem to have the best overall success. Just an opionion but it's one based on what I've been seeing.

The largest banner ads on the very top right are google ads (adsense/adwords).  This means that OH is paid by google for clicks on their ads, and google are paid by many (we're talkin millions) of companies and put into an ad pool.  Google ads are based on cookies on your particular system.  Basically it takes the types of sites you visit and connects them to tags/keywords in their ad database. 

For example, I work for a childrens website having absolutely nothing to do with body image (in fact, we don't allow discussion of any body image issues due to the age group we work with and the abuse issues associated.. long, different story).  Anyway, I see our ads on this site occasionally when I clear my cookies on my browser and only visit our site before coming here.

So it's technically Google's fault, for associating OH and JC in similar tags.
