I can't believe it......
May I just chime in? You need to get over the "foreign body" thing.
Do you have any fillings in your teeth? FOREIGN BODIES. As you age, you may end up needing stents, a pacemaker, knee or hip replacements, artificial valves, even an organ transplant. All FOREIGN BODIES. There are all manner of life-saving and life-improving medical marvels that are "foreign bodies."

I will also chime in to say the Realize Band actually has been around longer than the Lap Band. It was used in Europe since 1986 and wasn't brought over to the US till recently. It was called the Swedish Adjustable Band. When it came over to the US it was renamed Realize.
Not that I think either one is better than the other. Just wanted to post the correct info on the board.

I initially had an issue with the foreign body thing and then realized what Bette said -- the staples for the vsg are foreign bodies plus I figured if I kept on living life so overweight the chances of me needing other foreign bodies implanted down the road would be high. So I sucked it up and got the band. I am very happy with it.
When I was first looking into the band, my surgeon stated that people that have a smaller amount of weight to lose (like you) tend to do the best with the band. I agree at your height 200lbs would probably be way too low. My husband is 5 11 and weighs 200 you can't pinch an inch anywhere on him. At 6 7 I'm thinking your goal weight should be a lot higher than 200
Good luck to you!
