I just had my surgery on 4/20/11 also. I have been drinking about every 10 minutes, and take about 30 minutes to eat my lunch "pudding with protein powder". My stomach seems to growl all the time. I don't get that full feeling everyone is talking about. Am I going to need to get an adjustment right away.

I also had my surgery on the 20th and I am experiencing the same thing. I am following the post-op diet perfectly, but my stomach growls and I feel hunger pangs! It's not gas. This started yesterday. I see the Dr. on Wed. for my 1 week check up. If all goes well then, I will be able to have mushies, so maybe this will help.

I had lap band surgery on April 15th. The first 5 days it was easy to stick to liquids while healing from the surgery. Now, I want to eat everything I ate before, but I know I can't. I feel that I would like an adjustment now, but my appt for the first fill is on May 17th. I guess the doctors want you  to heal a full month before the fill.

I asked my Nut this question when I was post op.  She reminded me that you have a whole other stomach, (your big stomach) that is used to being full, full, full most of the time.  Now you are only filling your your small pouch.  It's totally satisfied, but the other part of your stomach is not full and therefore is making noises, complaining, "Where's my food?!"  When your stomach growls it's the digestive juices letting your body know it needs something to break down.   It's o.k. for it to rumble.  You don't need to fill it, and as soon as the food passes through your pouch it will stop.

As long as you are eating the appropriate portions and getting enough protein you are not truly hungry.  Ignore it.

As far as feeling full, it takes a few fills.  Immediately post op the swelling will give you that feeling, but once that goes away you will be able to eat more and may feel real hunger becuase the food you eat is not staying in your pouch very long because the opening has not been restricted much.

Patience.  Just keep measuring your portions and following Dr.'s orders.

Best,
Lisa O.

Thanks, Lisa. Great advice. This board has so many experienced bandsters. It's such a great resource for newbies!
