I've gained back 24 lbs....

The band news:  yep- I gained.   I was too tight last JUNE.  I was unfilled for entirely too long. got two tiny fills but it wasn't close to where I was or should be. I wasn't moving enough, I wasn't self monitoring enough. I wasn't trying enough. I failed my band...

I have such a hard time limiting my portions to tiny amounts. I just can't do it. I was starving  because I'm just not at a good fill point.

The good news:  I have a fill scheduled for Thursday. This will be my first adjustment since like October or something.  I've needed this badly!  I just couldn't justify spending the $200 to get the fill when we were on the verge of buying a house. We needed every dollar to make the 5% down payment and the gazillion dollars in other misc charges. But now the house thing isn't happening. The financing fell through so I'm getting my fill. Oh yes I am!

I find it funny that I couldn't justify the fill money but I sure could spend that cash to fill my belly with groceries. Odd the way the mind works.

After all of this, I'm still trusting that when properly filled, my band is going to help me achieve my goals. This is one of the many shining benefits of having an adjustable band. I will not fail my tool. It spring, it's time to get moving. It's time to get re-motivated. Bring it on world!

Your story sounds somewhat like mine. I was too tight eating slider foods to get by, had a small unfill and now there is no end to what I can eat and I've gained 7lbs in addition to the 5 I gained while eating slider foods when I was too tight. I had a .4ml unfill and it was like the band was gone. I had an esophogram on April 1st and I had to reschedule 2 appointments with my surgeon because he didn't have the results yet and he is 2 1/2 hrs from me. I am going May 3rd whether he has the results or not, and getting another fill.
I have to pay a 25dollar co-pay. Sorry you have to pay so much but you know it's worth it to get to the right place.

I think there are many more in our situation than just us.  The band is not a cure all, but it can be a very effective tool when it's fully utilized.

I too travel about 2 hrs to get my fills. But I am worth it. You are worth the efforts. Don't give up!

We can get this extra weight off. We did it once, we can do it again. This time around we know what NOT to do. This has been a serious lesson learned the hard way.

Tiff, sorry to hear about the house falling through.  That stinks.  But glad to hear your good news.  It's great that the band is adjustable and we can start fresh at any point.

I'm looking forward to hearing more about your future adventures with exercising.  I never did get to try snowshoeing, but did ice skate and down hill ski, and oh yea... climbing to the top of the climbing wall at the climbing gym.  You have inspired me to try new things.

You can do this Tiff!  Keep us updated!

Hugs,
Kristi

Thank you for your support Kristi.

My next big adventure in exercise is going to be my new commuter bike. Hubby swears that will be one of his first purchases when he starts working. A new (used) bike for me to commute with. With the price of gas right now, just a few days on the bike and it will have paid for itself.

And the benefits of the physical exercise will be priceless!

You know, that would be a great way to save$ and get exercise!  I rode my "outside" bike once in the last year and my butt was so sore.  My DD wants to go on bike trails and maybe I should try it again!  See you are such a good influence on me Tiff!

i would start small if I were you. Get a gel seat and gloves with the gel grips so your hands don't hurt. It will help, but don't go crazy your first few trips out. Like no more than 6 miles so your booty gets used to the pain. Eventually your body will accept the annoyance of the butt pain. It's never comfortable, but it is managable.

Don't forget your helmet. Safety first!!
