why am I always hungry
I had Lapband surgery 4 weeks ago...got through the liquid diet and soft foods and was doing great I thought. Not hungry felt full... then I went this past week on Tuesday to get a fill and now after I got through the liquid and soft ..the past couple days I am so hungry and find myself eating ...and at times I eat more than I should. But I dont feel full...
Has anyone felt this..I am so scared...I don**** to gain..???

That's normal - it can take 2 - 4+ fills before you have good restriction. I have had 4 fills now and the last one was in February - before that the fill would last a week maybe 2 and then i would start feeling hungry - that's how I knew it was time for another fill. In December I did not lose a single pound. Some poeple do gain weight - you have to be patient with the band, but once it kicks in it's great. I had my durgery Sept 17, 2010 and I am down 73 pounds. If you haven't started exercising yet I would suggest starting with walking and work your way up.
Take care!

I have pretty good restriction even though I dont have no fills in me yet but with me it dont matter what I do the week to a week and half before my period I'm so hungry all the time it dont matter what I do .
It's always been like that for me. I think because nothing satisfies me physically , I cant find that perfect food that hits the spot like I do the other weeks *sigh*.
The reason why I said that could you also be close to your period ? that plays a major major effect with my hunger issues every month
But you are only four weeks out also. I never get the full feeling anymore since my surgery. I get the satisfied feeling. I can always eat more but I dont .
Are you getting enough protein in ? I always try for at least 20-25 grams of protein per meal and that really helps the hunger and if I do get hungry between meals I eat some peanuts that helps me also .

I don't eat till I'm full, I eat my 3oz of protein and 1/2 cup of veggies and am satisfied.
My doctor doesn't tell us we can eat till we're full, but that we'll be full on smaller amounts of food. A little bit of difference in working, but significant in how things work.
If you are still eating "white" foods such as bread, rice, pasta, potatoes .. try cutting way back on those things or eliminating them completely. These foods tend to spike your blood sugar when eaten, and you feel good for a little bit, but when your blood sugar drops down again.. hunger returns with a vengeance.
The others who've posted about it taking more than one fill to get good appetite suppression are correct. Keep on eating your measured portions, and if you get hungry between meals, have a high protein, low calorie snack. Things like an apple with string cheese, wasa cracker & laughing cow, a small low sugar yogurt (carbmaster is good if you have a kroger nearby), small cottage cheese.
You can also try water loading between meals. I push through hungry times by drinking lots of fluids. Then if the fluids don't work.. I have a snack like I listed above.
Hang in there, this will work for you as it has for many.
