Just need some advice..I am 4 days post op and i know i'm still in the healing stage .I tried to eat some yogurt this morning a 6oz container about half way thru i started burping,I don't know if that's a signal that i'm full.I don't really have an appetite but i know i need to eat/drink something.. What are some of your experiences?

For me the burp was my "soft stop".  I honestly never went beyond the burp but sometimes with the burp came the tightness in my chest.  I knew to stop and I didn't eat anymore because I was afraid of the results!!  I am 4 weeks out now and I still use my burp -- which is sometimes accompanied by a hiccup -- to tell me to stop NOW!

I was the same way at the beginning, eating because I had to get my protein in, sipping because I had to get my water in.  Keep doing what you are doing and it sounds like you are going to do great!

Some people refer to the burp as a "soft stop" sign which is your body telling you you have had enough. Heed this sign and any others you may have (hiccups, teary eyed, etc) and it will help you in the long run. I am 1 1/2 years out and I still have them and I listen to them because I have found that if I get to the hiccup stage (the second "soft stop" sign for me) and try to eat more I feel like I am about to get stuck and that is not a good feeling.

Good luck and welcome to the loser's bench!

I was banded 4/21 I dont have an appetite either. When I burp I stop eating. I use it as a sign that Im full. The gas is whats killing me. I walk and it still seems to linger. Good luck to us. Keep me posted on your progress.

I had my lapband surgery on the 20th, so we are in the same place. I know I have had enough when I get a tight feeling in my chest and feel like I can't take another bite. My doctor said to try to get all the required protein and liquids in each day, but if I had a hard time getting all of it in that I should defer to the liquids and get those in before the protein.

this is a fantastic time in your healing phase. You are probably still pretty swollen and if a few bites of yogurt fills you up, just think of all the weight you will drop in the next week or so while you are still healing.

Take this time to start a nice little walking routine. Nothing to big or too strenuous. Just nice and mellow meander through the neighborhood.  Keep trying to get those liquids down, thats the most important part at this point.

Happy Healing!
