Congrats on that surgery! I know some who have gone back to work very quickly, but I could not have. I felt fantastic energy wise but on day 3 I still needed a nap, was still extremely bloated and had little to wear since I had already been busting out of everything I owned, and pain wise day 3 was my worst. I felt better each day from there but at about day 5 I went to church then to visit the nursing home my MIL is in and it was a bit much. Note that I am much older than you, though. My point is that while I felt great, and I could do tons of things, it was in shorter spurts not a whole day with the next and the next.

Take a couple of extra days if you can, but if you can't be sure to have plenty of liquid Tylenol, a way you can get up and walk frequently to help with the gas, and someone to baby you at night. Good luck!

I had my surgery this last Monday and going back to work tomorrow.  I initially  had a lot of gas stuck in my chest/throat area it seems.  It changed my voice a bit and made me clear my throat alot.  By day 3 I was soooooo gassy just trying to get it all out was a feat, so be prepared!!  I am a little tender where the port is (I hear that is common). I also started on the treadmill at a slow speed on the third day as well.  The thing is keep moving!!! That will move the gas out quicker.   I found it uncomfortable to just sit still too and sometimes it felt alot better to get up and move.  The best thing you can do is see how you feel then and go from there just try not to over do it, and let your body heal.

In all honesty, there's no way I could have gone back to work in a few days. I actually didn't get my energy bac****il day 6. My worse pain days were day 2 and 3.  No energy days were day 4 and 5.  I took 4 wks off, but probably could've gone back after 1 wk, but definitely not on day 3. Good luck to you.
