So today my hubby and I had off work.  We sent the kiddo's to the in laws and we went shopping and to get something to eat.  This was the first time I had gone out to eat since surgery.  We went to the Cracker Barrel.  We LOVE LOVE to eat there.  I was worried about what I was going to have and how my hubby would react to my smaller portions.  Well they have a low carb menu so I got a cheese bacon cheeseburger, no bun.  All of which I am allowed to have, w/ a side of dumplins...I got that side, knowing I wouldn't be able to eat all the hamburger and the hubby loves the dumplins.  So I ate maybe 3/4 of my hamburger w/ ketchup, (remember that was ALLLL I was craving) since I had surgery.  So anyway, it wasn't anything like I thought it would be.  It wasn't bad, but I don't want anymore.  I had meatloaf the other night, .  Its funny that some of the things that I thought I wanted, just taste blah and nasty.  I want a salad very bad, but maybe that wont taste like I thought either.

I am loving my band.  I got on the scale this morning and I am down 24 lbs since surgery and 27 lbs in all!!  I know for me, and I don't speak for anyone else on here, but for me, its almost like a sense of controll.  Control over something that used to have control over me.  I wont lie, sometimes I will take a bite of something, but I am so super duper proud of myself for doing this, and being this determined.  I have realized that I, ME, MYSELF have to monitor what I put in my mouth.  The band doesn't do that, it doesn't have eyes.  I have to make smart choices, healthy choices and the right choices.  My hubby was very much againest this and I told him that I was sorry he felt that way, but whether he likes it or not I was getting this surgery because my health depends on it.  I asked him how he thought our first outing was and he said that he felt like he was a hog, because he was eating much much more then me.  I told him not to worry about it.  I did this for me, and he doesn't need to follow my diet.  But anyway...Sometimes I just think that this is amazing.  I actually went to Old Navy today and bought 4 shirts.  I don't know if the 1 fits, but I bought it anyway, because I know it WILL fit soon!!  I know finally that because I try as hard as I can this time, I WILL succeed!!!!  I have wanted to come home and go for a walk with my kids, sometimes they have a hard time keeping up with me.  I don't get winded walking up hills or just walking in general...

I have made so many discoveries about myself through this journey that its amazing.  I can honestly look forward to doing more things, because guess what, I wont be the biggest person in the room and when I go shopping I wont have to go to a special section and shop, while my friends shop at the regular section.  When I walk into a room, they wont see a fat woman, but hopefully a strong, secure and independant woman!  Anyway, I'm sorry this is so long, but I have wanted to say this for a while!!

I hope you all have a wonderful night and a very Happy Easter!!!

Congratulations on your efforts and your WL. I am nervous about going out since the appetizer range in restaurants around here don't have the range of a main meal. However I figure I can get the main and take some home, for the next 3-4 lunches he he he.

I am up to Day 10 and have lost 11.2 pounds since the band went in, and 23.1 pounds since beginning this journey, this time. I am craving anything solid, this whole soups and shakes thing is very bland.

I have a pea and ham soup in the slow cooker (crockpot) going for evening meal tonight and I am really looking forward to it, the smell is permeating the whole house. Of course I'll have to blend it and strain it first.

How many weeks out are you?

Cat,

Today is exactly 4 weeks for me!  Let me tell you that soup sounds delish!  I was so hungry the first 2 weeks after surgery...The 2 weeks before and the 2 wks after were the hardest for me.  I was just always hungry and I felt very restricted(because my diet was).  Good job on your WL.  Congrats!!  You figure that is a little more then a pound a day!  I lifted a 5lb bag of sugar the other day and thought, "My God I used to carry 5 of these around my waist, I couldn't carry more then 2 at a time in my hands, I can't imagine what that was doing to my body"....

Congrats again!!

That is what the band does for me -- it makes a small amount of food be 'enough' ---- not stuck, not full, just 'I don't really want any more'

This is just the beginning of so many wonderful discoveries in store for you!

Reading posts like this keep me pumped.  Love your discoveries and your attitude.  Think I will probably cancel my fill on Tue. cause I don't think I need it.  I'm losing and not getting hungry.  Will see if I can move it up acouple of weeks.  Yea us!

Thanks for your responses!  I am looking forward to many new discoveries as well!  I'm sure some of them will be painful, as I have used to food to cover up things, but that is good, because then I can "release" that and not have those painful things, weighing me down...Anyway, I'm starving so I'm off to make some eggs!!

Take care all!!

Sounds like you did fine!  I find it interesting that they do not offer any nutritional information on their web-site...makes me suspect...but that is just me!

My husband and I just got back from a week at our lake house...he and our daughter ran a half marathon last Saturday in a town nearby and the whole family, son, DIL, and 7 teenaged grandkids were there to cheer them on.  We go out for lunch or dinner pretty much every day and since my surgery our tabs are about 1/4 what they were (he is eating better too).  We order one entree and share or I order an appetizer (like sirloin skewers) + salad or soup and a glass of wine before. Whatever wine is left in my glass goes to DH to fini**** works great and we are both happy.

Sorry to hijack, but...I have been struggling lately with the same 5 lbs up and down...my doctor put me back on my cholesterol meds (pravastatin) and I find that my joints hurt more than usual and I am retaining a lot of water (tight rings that were previously falling off).  I am skipping the meds for a week to see if that is the culprit or if I need to look elsewhere.
