Hi , I am new to this forum, I have just had my 1st visit with my nutritionist and the Nurse last week and I was wondering...... they were saying  that after lapband the average loss is up to 50% of the Excess Body Wieght , but that doesnt mean I wouldnt be able to continue to lose after that right?
The nutricionist was saying I should do the bypass, after I told her I wanted to do the Lapband . So thats why I am here asking the question. If is a tool to help me loose weight whats to stopping me from loosing more than 50% of the excess body wieght?

Yes.  You would be able to lose weight after that 50%, assuming that you get that far.  Just like you are able to lose it now.  Diet and exercise.

According to the people who make the band...and the stuff they HAD TO PUBLISH to be legal, few of the people who get the band lose 50% of their excess weight.

You don't have to believe me...it is in their PUBLISHED info on their website.  They have an older study with worse, I think, results in the patient handbook, but they've done a more recent study that's in their physicians' info.

It's easier to read in the original...here's the link LAP-BAND® Labeling and Safety Information (PDF) says that the MEAN weight loss 36 months out is about 36.2%.  Which means that for every person who loses 50% of their excess weight there is someone who loses only 22%:

In any group of a hundred people, there are probably 2 or 3 sociopaths.  In a group of a thousand, more like 20-30.  They function very well in "affinity groups," where people have things in common and tend to trust strangers.  I am NOT saying not to trust anyone.  I AM saying that there are probably two dozen sociopaths hanging out here and looking for victims.  Most are NOT serial killers.
