gosh I cant believe today is my 5 month anniversary  . Time has went by so fast and so slow at the same time if that makes sense lol.

I have accomplished alot in  these five months, some on the scale, some measuring tape , some mental accomplishments and just odds and ends that add up to victories .

This month has been 6 months for me for being a non smoker !!!!  I feel so good, cant stand the smell of them anymore , but I do miss them once in awhile .

As some of you turned to sweets, potato chips as your comfort foods the cigarettes was my comfort .  I smoked instead of eating which in some ways I think that is a good thing because I dont have all the addictions to carbs and sugars like alot of heavy people  do my addiction was to nicotine .

So I can have the all the sweets laying around me , the potato chips and it dont bother me at all which I'm very very thankful for especially hearing some of the stories on here.

I kicked my smoking habit 30 days before my surgery or around there and that was harder then losing this weight to be honest .  I feel since I kicked the smoking I can do anything because that was a total ***** to quit and never want to go through that again !!!!  And I did all that without gaining a single pound when I quit smoking  !!! I was so thankful for that alone right there.

As far as weight now I'm in the 200's !!!!!!!   I cant believe I'm in the 200's I havent seen that in yrs and I have lost  50 pounds !!!   I did all that this month and I'm so happy !!!!   Out of the 300's and hit 50 pounds all in one month I can not ask for more then that this April as far as weight wise goes .

I measured my hips the other day and the tape measure never did touch each other .The other day it did with extra !!! I have went from a  68 in my hips to a 58 in my hips !!!

As many of you know I have done all this without a single fill in my band and I'm very very happy with that .  Maybe , I could have lost faster or more if I would go get a fill but you know what 50 pounds in 5 months that is 10 pounds per month on weight loss I can not ask better then that .

I have a appt with my doc on May 2ND for a suppose to be fill but I will be skipping that fill once again . I just dont feel the need for one I like being able to eat anything I want in a restaurant without worrying if I'm going to get stuck or slime or just being able to eat anything I want in general without worrying if I can handle it or not .  Plus I have lost 7 pounds in four weeks :o)

I have learned alot from having the band in just five months.  Better choices on what to eat, not to eat my bad girl foods all the time but in moderation,  and so forth.

I'm so darn lucky that having the band around my stomach is good enough to keep me in check . Maybe it is a mind over matter thing and if it is then I love how mentally strong I am because I never thought I was before.

I have my bad days where I eat all the bad foods, but its going to happen it wont be the first time and it wont be the last time , I just brush myself off do some extra water, really watch it for the next day or so and exercise and that is all I can do .

Hopefully 7 months from now I can come on here and post a 100 pound weight loss !!!!   My next goal is 75 pounds off me by the end of August :o)

My accomplishments in five months

I am in the 200's

I have lost 50 pounds

I have dropped a size in shirts from a 3x to a 2x

I have dropped a size in pants from a 26/28 to a 22/24

I have done all this without a single fill in my band

I can do 5 hrs a week now of Zumba where I could only do 1 hr and it damn near killed me lol.

I have lost 10 inches in my hips alone and the tape measure touches each other now

I have lost a total of 30 inches all together

My knees dont  hurt as bad now exercising

and my biggest one that I'm very very proud of is I am six months smoke free !!!!!!!  The lap band alone has been worth it just for that because I would have never quit smoking if it wasn't for the lap band .  It was worth the 20 grand right there !!!

I'm in control of the food now the food dont control me no more or I should say 80% of the time it's this way lol.

For the new ones that are getting this done or thinking about . I dont regret this decision one bit . I would do it all over in a heartbeat if I had to, even if my band went poopy on me tomorrow because without the band I would be a 350 pound woman smoking 2 packs of smokes a day !! Now I'm a 298 pound person and smoke free :o)

Find what works for you ,  get advice on here but follow your gut and follow your heart not everybody is the same.  What works for me might not work for you .  Eat right, exercise, drink your water and yes you can eat them bad foods to but in moderation !!!

Moderation not deprivation is the key to any weight loss .  A vet told me that on here when I first started and it has been the best piece of advice I have ever gotten and I live by this 100% of the time !!

Congrats to you for so many achievements and a terrific attitude.  You have done so much to benefit you and your family.  I'm just over the 3 month mark, and have lost about 30 lbs.  The band, walking, Zumba, and I have become a team.  I'm also into moderation, not deprivation.  Onward and upward for both of us!!!

Great job!!!  I am envious of the fact you haven't needed a fill.  I needed 8 before I even felt like I had a band in there.  I am envious that anyone can consistently eat in moderation all of those yummy foods.  For me it's like Russian roulette.  Sometimes I can stop...most of time I eat way too much...especially with cookies and ice cream.  I still treat myself once a month.  But eating a couple of cookies for me could open the flood gates to a full on binge session!!!

I admire your effort and your success.  You should be proud of yourself.  I hope you are going to treat yourself to something nice...you deserve it!!!!

Thanks :o)  I think the reason why the sweets and the carbs dont bother me is I never grew up with that stuff. My mom didn't bake cakes, didn't keep alot of candy around the house or cookies.

of course she made them but they was treats and she was strict on how much we ate on them things so those things I dont know just never got to me.

Now , ask me about a pizza, or a steak or something else like that I'm like you with the sweets its hard for me to stop sometimes .  I am a meat lover at heart lol.  give me BBQ chicken on the grill and I will make a meal out of that and just that or steaks , cheeseburgers things like that .

There are many times I have to stop myself from eating another piece of BBQ chicken and there has been many times I have ate three pieces of chicken instead of just my two .

It was always that way when I was growing up it was the meats that is my binge and can I binge if I don****ch myself lol. and that fast food that was a big big factor with my weight also . It was fast food 5-7 times a week if not more sometimes now its maybe once a month twice a month .

That is one of the reasons why the doc said I would do so well with the lap band because I was never a sweets, carbs or snacker person , I just didn't know how to control my meals and my meals is what got me into this mess.

I have my days believe me where I eat all the time .  Today hasn't been that good of a day food wise .  I let stress and my teenager get the best of me today and Taco Bell and Doritos won today :o( .  And the sad part is Im not a fan of doritos so dont even know why I even ate them stupid things thank goodness it was only about 15 chips lol

I went and got me the new Iphone that is out the 4 I think. I have been wanting one but never did want to spend that kind of money on one and to be honest its way to much phone then I really need for being a stay at home mom but I told hubby this is what I have done and this is what I want so I went and got it lol.

Next is Pittsburgh Steeler tickets to three games this yr that is my next quest :o)

You don't have to worry about fills! I have had 3 and have never thrown up or slimed! I have lost 68lbs since sugery in November. I had one short period of heartburn, otherwise no problems. I like knowing I have limits. Keeps me on track much better! Knowing myself I would be tempted to overeat otherwise!

Everything you wrote is SO awesome!! Even more so for someone like me who started this journey about 10 pounds lighter than you.  To see the 200's again is going to be amazing!!  I love that you have not had a fill yet.  I have my first fill appointment on April 27 and I honestly don't know that i want OR need one.  I have restriction that may or may not go away, but I'm not really thinking I am in need of a fill as I have lost about 30 pounds already.  However, I won't post a real weight until I go to my surgeon as his scale is the one I am going by!!!

The non smoking thing is just great as well!! You have taken so many steps to make yourself a lot healther!  You should be so proud of yourself!!

Donna, you will get there and it will be the biggest relief to see that two in front of your number :o) .

I'm staying off the scales for the next couple of weeks because I know I'm back in the 300's again due to my period getting ready to start next week I'm retaining water like no tomorrow so no since getting on them and getting myself all worked up for something I cant control right now lol.

On your fills Donna do what is best . If you can go at least 3 hrs of not being hungry and sometimes I will even say 2.5 because 30 min of slight hunger never kills anybody I would not get a fill but that is how I do things it might be different for you :o)  Also I judge on my weight loss I have a goal of 6 pounds or more per month and if I lose that much per month I dont get fills.  I average anywhere from 6-8 a month that might be a little lower because I dont have fills but that is okay with me also .

30 pounds is just awesome !!! Keep up the great work.  Remember get them fills when you need them physically not head hunger .

Thanks everybody for the kind words :o) means alot when you can come in here and brag a little and people appreciate what you have done .

Kat, smoking was the hardest thing to give up getting the lapband added years to my life just because I had to quit smoking for it so it was worth the surgery just for that .
