Hello my banded fam, I'm new to this so I'm going to ask a question thats probably already been asked several times before, yes....(band fills) do they or do they not hurt? and Slippage whats up with that. To be honest I'm happy and scared

My first fill was a little "ouchy" because I was still sore from surgery, but since then they've been a breeze, no biggie at all.  And I've had a LOT of adjustments (fills).

Band slips are USUALLY the result of staying too tight for too long (and therefore "refunding" your food too often) or overeating too often.   If you are careful, and follow the rules most of the time, you should do fine.

my first fill was a breeze... 6 weeks post op... I was actually told to sit up, not realizing the nurse had done anything! duh! everyone is different!

And as far as slippage... I decided long ago to only think about it if the problem arose... i kind of look at it this way. Would I be worrying about breaking my arm all the time and what to do if I did... no... I would first break my arm and then figure it out... or say... do I worry about my fillings fall out? NO I would deal with it when and if... a BIG IF... it does happen.
Its always good to be educated but if you behave you should not have any problems... cross the bridge when you get there!

Don't be scared! just be HAPPY!

I have had 9 fills and one unfill and not one of them hurt.  He didn't use any kind of numbing cream or anything.  I think if they do it right there should be no pain.

You shouldn't slip if you don't keep your fills too tight or if you don't over eat or thrown up excessively.  If you notice I said shouldn't...there are some people that slip,  through no fault of their own.  But a big percentage of people a slip could have been avoided.

No reason to be scared.  Just think positive and follow the band rules.  I'd say the my two biggest suggestions is... if you think something is wrong, call your doctor....if you have any questions or concerns talk to your doctor.

Ditto to what everyone else said. Follow the rules and you should be fine. If anything feels weird, call your doctor. Congrats to you by the way and welcome to the losers bench!
