Hello,
I wanted to ask if any one has had an enlarge esophagus due to the lap band, the only way the doctor said I can bring back my esophagus back to normal size is by taking some of my fill out and I do not want to do that since I have gain 25pounds since I have had my lap band put in 4yrs 5months ago and can not gain any more. I am trying my best to loose the 25pounds gain but it is not easy. I do hope that having an enlarge esophagus does not bring any consequence to my health as I do not fill any problems. Would appreciate any response from some one that has had this issue. Thanks Adriana

i would do what your Dr tells you too so you do not lose your band !  you can work on wt loss later right now you have to heal.

YES, IT WILL BRING CONSEQUENCES TO YOUR HEALTH!!!  YOU NEED TO HAVE YOUR BAND UNFILLED ASAP.

I would call and ask but it can cause you to lose your band . I would not let it go too long.

Lose my band in what way, the doctor said in my last visit that everything was well with my band just the enlarge esophagus.  My doctor is in Baja California and I have a physical exam at the end of May and will speak to my Internal Medicine doctor and tell him of my enlarge esophagus and see what he tells me. Than you for your reply.

There are a few people on this board that have suffered major health issues because their esophogus was damaged by the band.

If you aren't willing to listen to the warnings that fellow bandsters are giving you, then I am not sure why you asked.

I lost 100 lbs with my band and regained 40 of that when I had a slip and had to have an additional surgery to fix it.  I know it sucks to deal with regain, but I would rather have that to deal with instead of being without a weight loss tool at all.

Thank you Robert, I know that I need to take care of things but if I am feeling will I see no need at this point to do anything. I know that I can no longer get fills due to the enlarge esophagus because I do not want to harm my band but I do have a restriction which I need and I do not have any heartburn,  And like you say do not rush into anything if it is not an emergency. Hope you do better with your spasms and once again thank you for you reply.
