Hi, take a deep breath and try and focus on all the positives that getting to a healthier weight will bring you.  Take before pics and measurements.  Journal what it feels like to be at your weight now.  Staying obese without doing anything is scary also.  It's a given that the older an obese person gets, the more health problems that will show up.
WLS takes work, but then being obese without surgery isn't easy either.  And being at a healthy weight feels sooooooooooooo good!

I wish you strength and a lot of positives on your journey!

I made a checklist before my surgery. Made a grocery list and went shopping so that I would have everything in place after surgery. I did all my housecleaning and made my room post-surgery ready with books and magazines. Basically I stayed so busy before surgery, I didn't have time to worry. That definitely worked for me.

Try not to get yourself all worked up!!! I was soooo nervous for NOTHING!!! My surgury was a breeze!!! As soon as you get out of recovery,WALK at least 15 min out of every hour!!! I did that and didn't get the BAD GAS that you hear about!!! Is your Dr. going over your belly button or thru it??? It makes a difference!!! Dr. Nease went over mine and it was a breeze!!! I was sore but it was tolerable!! With my gallbladder surgury the Dr. went thru my belly button and I couldn't walk good for a week!!! Ive done AMAZING with my band!!! Ive lost 51 pounds in 5 and a half months!!! The band is ONLY a TOOL!!! If you work it, It'll work for you!!!! Good Luck and keep me posted!!! Joyce

I have been a home a couple of hours after getting surgery this morning.  It isn't that bad.  My stomach feels like I have done a million sit ups and have sore abs.  It is all a breeze though.  They are quick to get things rolling and it takes no time at all.  THis was my first surgery so I can sympathize wtih you being anxious.  It was not bad at all.  I feel well rested after the surgery and a long nap.  I might have to get knocked out more often to feel so well rested!  LOL  Good luck!  I am sure you will do just fine!

**Take chapstick!  I couldn't get mine on fast enough.  My lips were so dry!
