With the band, I can't over eat. However, I still can eat some of my "comfort" foods like pizza, cookies, cakes, and other high calorie not too healthy for you stuff.....

........I'm feeling a bit scared. The scary "i'm gonna gain my weight back" feeling. So I need help stop eating those unhealthy foods. The scary "I'm not gonna keep losing if I continue to eat these foods."
I'm nervous, i'm scared, My nutritionist says i'm doing great. I feel like i'm slipping. Old feelings when i did the yo yo dieting. Can anyone identify?

Hi suzanne-

i'm still in the pre-banding phase of life, so my opinion or thoughts probably account for nothing...

but yes, you ARE doing great!  and I think that you ARE feeling scared is a healthy and normal reaction--that you see it, and recognize it means you can address it.  if you were'nt worried about old habits, then i think you WOULD slip back into them way too easily.  but you've got the tools to address this, you are WONDERFUL!

Betsey is right.  It's normal to get scared.  I find the fear setting in when I start thinking about wanting to lose 150+lbs.  I tell myself to think ONLY about today, and following all the rules FOR TODAY.  Then, before you know it, a bunch of today have added up to success.

Focus on today... What do they say... Today is a gift.  That's why they call it the present.
Good luck!

I think being scared is great bc one day you will get sick of being scared, and stop eating those unhealthy foods. Pre-band I gorged with a sense of entitlement. NO FEAR!  Post band, I get scared. It is a process, those foods will always be out there. So it is up you now to plan to eat what makes you feel good about yourself.

I have lost 140 lbs and I still fear gaining my weight back.  I have decided to use that fear to keep me on my toes.  I workout 9 hours a week and eat healthy 85% of the time...I figure I am in good shape.  I don't think anyone should get ****y that they will never regain the weight.  I will forever be fighting my urges to overeat or eat the wrong foods...just like alcoholic has got to fight the urge to drink forever.

As far as pizza goes.  I have enough restriction now that pizza (or anything to doughy) is hard for me.  I can eat maybe two small pieces or one medium piece before I get so full.  I really don't eat pizza that often anymore.  I tend to gravitate to protein and fruits/veggies...because that's what we're supposed to do but also because I can eat protein veggies/fruit comfortably.  Carbs like bread, pasta, rice is difficult for me.  I have no urge to eat these things at all.  the temptation for these carbs is completely gone for me now.  What is a huge temptation for me and a big no-no is ice cream,,,it's so easy to eat and easy to eat too much.  what I do for that is I never bring it into my house.  I don't go near the ice cream isle if I'm feeling weak.

All I can tell you is the longer I stay away from the things that temp me the less they tempt me.  Good luck and keep up the fight.

thanks so much for sharing. interesting enough I don't feel TEMPTED to eat ...i just feel that I can eat them within reason since I don't get sick after. Some people do, not me...i can eat very very slowly carbs like bread that is very soft, taking me about 45 min to really chew slowly. i'm not a big ice cream eater thank goodness. never really was, but i do like cheese and pizza. i can't eat a regular slice but i can eat a small piece of thin crust, or two....

Good for you on your weight loss thus far!!! I, too, have the same fear, but I think it is normal...especially since we are so "new" to this life change.

I can pretty much eat whatever I want. Pizza, breads, pasta...all the things that got me where I was pre-surgery...so I don't. My doctor told me that one of his patients told him that he can eat 4 slices of pizza, my doctor's reply was "Well I can eat 8!...but I don't." So, that is my take on the matter of the foods I shouldn't eat...just because I CAN, doesn't mean I will.

I definitely try to avoid most carbs,
I stay away from the things that I used to gorge myself on before. I am working the band, the band is not working me. I got the band for a reason...and although the thought of failing is scary, the thought of NOT SUCCEEDING is scarier.

I hope you have continued success with your weightloss endeavors. And as the previous writers said, you'll be fine!

Let's keep in touch!
