Hard to tell --- how do you feel?

How important is it that you be there?
Are they expecting you?

I could have done it 3 days out -- and it would not have bothered me that other people were celebrating and eating/drinking things I could not have.

If it had been the wedding of a close family member, I would have gone (probably would have driven there the night before and spent the night close to the wedding so I was not so tired) --- if it was an acquaintance, I would have never RSVP'd for the event if I was going to be 3 days post-op.

With mine I had surgery on a Thursday and stayed home Friday but Friday night the gent I was dating came and picked me up for a date.  (LOL no food involved) ( I had told him I couldn't see him for a few days before the surgery so he was ready to see me asap, it was sweet)  Granted all I had to do was to sit there and chat with him and others but it was fine, when I started to feel stiff or sore I simply got up and walked around a bit.  Just remember that whatever you do, make sure that you are gentle with you. :)  Moving around will be okay, we are suppose to walk especially there at the beginning to help get the gases out and all.  I hope your trip is enjoyable and uneventful. :)

I drove 1 hour to attend my nephews birthday party when I was 5 days out and did fine. I wouldn't have missed it for the world. I didn't have to dress to dressy though. I guess it just depends on how you feel and how important it is to you. Good luck!

It really depends on how you feel. Did you already commit to going?

I was invited to a wedding that would have been 4 days after my surgery, and I declined. I was worried that I wouldn't feel well enough and didn't want the bride and groom to pay for my meal and then not be able to show up. It was the right decision for me. I was extremely fatigued for about a week after surgery. There is no way I could have gotten through the ride there, ceremony, reception, etc. Plus, I was still pretty swollen and can't imagine I would have been comfortable in a fancy dress.

You can't go back and make a brand new start, but you can start from now and make a brand new end.
