I've never been much of a cook, the only thing I do make is chili, cause it's quick and easy, but I get tired of chili. Do any of you eat the smartones/WW or lean cuisine entrees and if so have you been successful with it?

I looked a t the packages and:
1 the servings are larger than my plan..
2 way too much salt in them
3 not enough PROTEIN in them
4 lot of carbs...

They may be quick, but they are not the healthiest choices...

Ok I'm going to get preachy for a moment you will have to excuse me....

Those frozen, prepackaged meals are full of sodium and carbs.  They aren't as healthy for you as a homemade meal.  I know, I know you don't like to cook.  I don't either...but I find the easiest things to to cook.  Most of my meals are done in 15-20 minutes from when I walk in the door.  You can also do crockpot meals which is basically pouring ingredients together and setting it to cook.  I like to take chicken, steak, pork chops and marinade (I make my own marinade now with no sodium!!!) them all day.  When I walk in the door I throw them onto the broiler and  and put some veggies in the microwave to heat up.  The meal is done in 15 minutes.  I also have a George Forman grill I like to use for fajitas or sandwiches.  But as far as those meals go the sodium count alone makes them unhealthy choices...especially when you are only supposed to have 1200 mg of sodium a day and one of those meals has 700 or more!!!

Ok I am done with my preaching.....

sometimes but not often.. only when I'm in a rush

I buy low sodium turkey at the deli.. it's 45% lower in sodium and I do soo much with it.. I chop it up to add with some egg whites or egg beater for breakfast or I roll it up with a piece of cheese and dip it in mustard for lunch for breakfast or a snack..

I use it on top of sandwich thin 1/2 toasted with with 1 slice of cheese and a side of sliced tomato..

or I chop it up and add to salad for dinner or lunch with some cucumbers..

There is plently of things to make when your not a huge cook it just takes being creative and miminal effort... you buy a ready made chicken from your grocery store and take the meat off.. and use it to make chicken salad .. usually when I buy a chicken I eat some that night then the next day I re heat it and eat with with bbq sauce or low fat gravy... make chicken salad... or chop it up to add in a salad... or throw some salsa on it and heat it up and eat with a side of beans.. so many options...

This is a perfect example of what works for 1 does not work for all.

I ate Lean Cusine ALL THE TIME.  and lost 100lbs in a year.

I always chose the ones without pasta or rice.  I always have these in the freezer and I do mean ALWAYS.

1.  Meatloaf and mash potatoes.  (most times I can only get a few spoonfuls of the mash in)
2. Beef tips with broccoli
3. Turkey and green beans
4. Baked Chicken ( I never eat the croutons - hurty)

My NUT Ok'd me to eat these from the beginning. My guidelines from her.  Protein 90 grms a day and sugar 5 grms and under per serving.

I do not eat the WW due to the high sugar content.  But if they had one that looked like it fit my plan I would buy it .
Remember, if you want to be a 155 pound person, you have to EAT like one.

I have eaten them almast daily since July. I try to keep below 250 calories. I love Smart Ones roste potatoes with broccoli & cheese 240 cqlories 7 grams of fat 10 grams of protein. I usually can't eat a whole meal. The diet pizzas are aroun 340 calories & 20 grams of protein. I can only eat half at a time. I log my foo every day and I am always ok on calories, fat & protein. Most of the time my sodium is uner the limit I'm allowed as well. Just read the lables and make good choices.

I could not survive without them.  I hate to cook and they're a quick and dirty meal when I don't want to make any effort. I can never finish the whole thing - which I find amazing since I used to always eat the full healthy choice meals and want more and always added a salad or something to my LC meal.  Now I can't finish one!  Who have thought that day would come?!!

Yes, I'm losing slow, but it's not the lean cuisine that's slowing me down, it's the eating of ice cream and other things I shouldn't eat that have caused me problems.  I made the call today fo a new therapist so that I can start dealing with why I've been sabotaging myself for the last year.  My weight loss has totally stalled because of it and I need to fix it.  We all have our issues, but frozen food is not one of mine.

Hi Norma (band buddy).  I have been meaning to write you for awhile  I am a huge fan of the lean cuisine steamers and eat them about 2/3 a week.  Most of them have between 15-20 grams of protein and they taste great.  The sodium content hasn't been a problem for me thus far and they haven't stopped my weight loss efforts (I am down about 51 lbs).  Unfortunately, I have had trouble eating them since I had my last fill but will try again this week.

I starting buying the frozen entrees again. I asked my surgeon about eating them and he said it was ok. He just didn't want me too eat big portions of food and no snacking in between meals and no sugar.  I do cook alot of food on the weekends when I;m off from work so when I get home I just have to reheat whatever I prepared.  Most is some kind of chicken or turkey meatloaf. Yesterday I roasted a chicken. Today I will take 3-4 ozs. to work and have piece of cheese or something like that. I don't have a problem with the salt in the frozen stuff. I usually drink enough to flush that out..
