ShellBell u might want to visit all the wls forums (VSG, DS, RNY) on here and ask them how happy they are with their wls and ask them how successful they have been. Also aske them about the band b/c u will find that a lot of them are former bandsters that have revised FROM the band. If the band was that great you wouldn't have so many ppl putting theirselves through the pain and expense of yet ANOTHER WLS now would u?!
I started reading blogs . That really shows you the in's and out's of the process and life with the band. There are lots of us that started blogging where you are .Right in the beginning and have blogged right on thru so it is interesting to read everyones experiences . :) There is support aplenty here so don't hold back ask anything you need too.
Hi Shelley
There are successes and failures in every type of weight loss surgery - it's important to have your head in the right place and look honestly at why you got to the weight you did. I was 331 pounds when I started and I went to counselling for a year to work through all of the feelings that I was trying to drown in food. I am 260 Pounds today not quite 7 months since my surgery - down 71 pounds!. The band is a tool like any weight loss surgery you have to have patience and a strong comitment to eating healthy - you can't eat as much as you did before so it's important that what you eat is good, and when you are ready start exercising - find something you like, I enjoy Curves and Zumba. I found it easy to stay motivated because you see the scale going down. There are times when you slow down or stall - in December I didn't lose a pound the whole month but I also ate chocolate and cookies... It's the best thing I've ever done for myself and this is a great bunch of very helpful people. Good luck and keep us posted!
