Can I have my band unfilled for a jump start?
I have a 10 cc band which is completely full. Over the past year I have slowly gained about 23 lbs. Has anyone had their band unfilled and the slowly refilled to get a jumb start? I didn't know if this was possible or not. Also, how do you know if you have a leak? And, if so, what does it consist of to have it repaired? Thanks for the info. I am really getting depressed over this whole situation. I find myself eating out of emotions from all of this pressure.
The only thing an unfill ever did for me was jumpstart my ability to stuff my face.
Your surgeon should be able to tell if you have a leak. Any time you go for a fill, they should check your file to see how much SHOULD be in your band, and then check your band to see how much is actually in it. If the #s don't agree, something is up.

Don't have your band unfilled. That just doesn't make sense and all it will do is allow you to eat with wild abandon! Trust me, been there, done that!
See you doctor and have him check your fill level just as Bette suggested. As I understand it, our bands do can hold slightly more than their capacity so ask your Dr. about that too. You may need a slight fill. If you still have restriction perhaps you've learned to "eat around the band" and would benefit from focusing on dense protein at each meal. I know when I start gaining a few pounds it's usually because I've gravitated to soft, not so healthy food choices like chilis, cream soups, carbs and sugar.
Once you've confirmed that you band is in place and working fine, start with the band basics and see if that helps you lose the 23 lbs. you've gained.
Get the facts and then act!
You can do this!
