What should I expect when I have Lap-Band w/ Plication?
I am on the liquid diet right now and just had my meeting with my surgeon and he reminded me of something from our first meeting,
He told me he was going to stich my stomach I didn’t realize till this last meeting it was Plication that he was talking about.
Now after months of getting my head around having the hand (years of research for the right tool for me) there is a new word scaring the BLEEP out of me..

The gastric plication I though was a totally different surgery from the band. It seems like you are going to have your stomach stitched and a band placed around it as well???? From my understanding gastric plication is similar to the gastric sleeve but the plication is reversible because they are not taking out part of the stomach only stitching it up???? If so you are going to drop loads of weight! Lol! I'm not really sure about this but this is what I have gathered. Plication is a new procedure. Sorry I couldn't be more help!

To secure the band ( in my surgery) , they took part of the stomach tissue ( not sure if they go from below the band or above the band and stitch it over the band to create a "tunnel" to secure the band into position.
I think your surgeon needs to visit with you again about what exactly he's going to do.

Gastric plication can reduce slippage rate after laparoscopic gastric banding.

its in trial but i know a few others have had it done
I think (but really not sure) that gastric sleeve plication is a full op in its own right (but i think there have been some queries as to its long term viability). Airhead had this done with her lapband. But I think (again just think!) that what you might be talking about here is just pulling a fold of stomach tissue over the band to keep it more firmly in place - that is quite common and has no effect on anything other than making slips less likely.
You need to look check this out with your surgeon.
