I feel different and I don't
I feel different because I do not have any of the bad side effects from lap band surgery. I went to a nutrition class and they talked about food getting stuck and how bad it was. I have never had that happen. I guess I should be glad but I think that maybe my band isn't working.
I don't feel any different than what I did before surgery (had it March 1st and my first fill already). It seems like there is no difference. I don't feel sick, I don't feel like something is stuck, I can drink and eat and although I do feel full much faster than before, I can still eat more protein that prescribed on the diet.
Does anyone else have this problem?

I felt no restriction till my 2nd fill. Even gained 2 oz when I went back for the 2nd fill. It takes a while to really feel the effects for some, and others feel it right away. Don't worry, take time to heal. Lap band takes a while. I had to heal almost 6 weeks before I could even get a fill. Now I've had 3, and am worried I'll get an unfill on Mon.
I wouldn't call it a problem, but yeah, I remember having a fairly easy time post - op.
I got small fills about every 2 months my first year and it took a whole year to REALLY get a stuck feeling. But that didn't keep my band from working.. I ate small meals (3oz of protein and 1/2 cup of veggies) and was satisfied for 3 to 4 hours.
Lost 100 lbs in the first 7 months without feeling sick, without feeling like something was stuck.
Sounds like you will have a similar path. Enjoy it!!

On the contrary. It's the getting stuck which should be abnormal!
In 5 years I have never had a really painful stuck episode. I have brought food back if i overate or ate too fast but that is not painful and I don't feel sick!
In any case, you probably don't have restriction yet. Many people need several fills.

I have never felt full. I eat my 3 oz of dense protein and 1/4-1/2 c of veggies and feel satisfied for 3-5 hours. That is what restriction is about, not feeling physically full. It's not about stopping you from eating. In 21 months, I have never PB'd ( where the food comes up easily ) . I have only had 4 stuck episodes and it was on too dry of food. It hurt like H_ll and I never want it to happen again. The stuck episode lasts about 1-2 hours for me. It's awful for me.
I don't know how much I could eat, I don't want to stretch my pouch or dilate my esophagus.
You don't have a problem, you have a band that's working!

i feel the same..havent had any 'symptoms" sometimes I think maybe they tricked me and i dont really even have the band..a placebo surgery maybe?? ive had two fills but really dont feel restriction yet.. going for another follow up this week..but the scale is telling me otherwise.. Ive lost alot for 2 months post surgery.. approximately 40 pounds but is it the band or the physco workouts im doing in mauy thai???
You are in what I consider "bandster hell" where you feel like you never even got a surgery. It took me about 6 fills to feel something and about 15 fills to get restriction (which is at about 9.9ccs in my 10cc band). Everyone is different in how many fills they need. Just take it one fill at a time.
i hate banster hell... i want out so bad...15 fills before restriction... OMHG!!!! im crossing my fingers and my toes i dont have to wait that long... not that all I want is resrtiction... I just want to not feel like my mouth is a trap door to a bottomless pit. I did experience albeit brief the week after surgery a few days where i was fully satisfied on very little. when I am hungry...i just can't stop thinking about food... which is like being in hell mostly because I run a small restaurant 3 days a week... when im not hungry i breeze by all the food around me. when im hungry, its like I am a vacuum... so here I am fill number one on Wed... hope to high hell it takes!
