I've been banded since 2008 persistant cough led to a upper GI that showed the band had slipped.  Complete unfill March 25th Endoscopy isn't until May 6th once thats done the band will be replaced as long as stomach is fine.  Just tring to maintain for until the endoscopy andd surgery with no restriction for the first time since 2008.  Any suggestions????  The thought of starting all over worries me as well but even in the midst i want to keep my band.

I just got home from the emergency room.  After two days of not being able to keep anything down, I pulled my head out of my arse and went to the emergency room.  I couldn't even keep liquids down.  I called my NEW doctor's office this morning and explained my problem and pleaded to be seen  as soon possible.  I was given an appointment for next Tuesday.  I tried to convince myself that I could wait that long.  However, on my drive home from work, I just drove straight to the emergency room.  I was prodded and poked by two very nice doctors that knew nothing about the lap band, before they agreed to seen me to radiology.  Sure enough, completely closed. The radiologist said it appeared my band had slipped.  The barium solution they gave me sat right there on the monitor.  Eventually they got around to calling in a bariatric surgeon.  He withdrew all 8cc from my band and I immediately felt better.  I have no restriction for the first time since November 2009.  I don't  know what lays ahead but I still love my band.

My best advice is just keep eating like a bandster, measure your servings, use a small plate, chew well and eat slowly. I had my band emptied Mon. and so far I'm still eating the same. I haven't really felt more hungry yet and I hope it stays that way. My plan is if the hunger does rear its ugly head I'll have a nice big salad to fill up and hope it holds me till the next meal. So far I'm still satisfied with a bandster portion.Hang in there!

Here's what I did when I didn't have a fill....I just did my best. If I wanted to eat, I ate. If I wasn't hungry, I didn't eat. But when I ate, I stuck to high protein, low carb and tons of veggies. That filled up my still-large stoma and I was happy. And don't worry about little gains... you just need to get things better at this point.

I had my band unfilled for two months and am still without restriction. I don't know what works best for your body, a low fat/ calorie diet, or low carb, but whichever it is maybe you can cater to that right now. When I was first unfilled I joined Weigh****chers. It is a fantastic plan which will work with your new hunger/ lack of restriction to make wise choices in planning your meals and being accountable. I know for me I am so sensitive to sugar I started maintaining and losing better when I started following Souith Beach diet. Which ever direction you go I would just say more than anything be accountable to yourself for now because if you go on an eating binge you'll regret it.

Best of luck!!
