2 weeks post op - not sure how to tell if I feel full

I am newly banded and am 2 1/2 weeks post op.  I am strugling with how to know when I am full.  I burt on occasion, but the past 2 days I am burping constantly.  I do not drink sodas or have any carbinated beverages in my diet.

I am eating 2-3 oz soft food meals, protien shakes and getting all 70oz of liquid in.  Just need to know what might I look for.  Kinda confusing, but thank you for any help.

The real question is how long after your meals do you feel hungry...stomach growling, feeling a bit shaky...if it is at least 3 hours you are doing great.  At this point, I was just concerned with getting all my nutrients in and not at all aware of feeling "full".
Continue to measure your food and eat only the amount you are allowed because you are too inexperienced to really judge how much to eat just by sight.  At this stage you can eat a small snack (8 gr protein and 14 gr carb) between meals as long as it is high protein and fits in with the meal plan and food options your doctor gave you...sounds like you are doing just fine.

Don't worry about feeling 'full' --- you need to eat what you are allowed to have, and then in a few minutes, you should notice that you are 'not hungry' ----- it is different from being full.

If you 'feel full' while eating, you have probably eaten too much

As the others have said you sound just fine. The burping is probably a combination of several things, one of which is the residual swelling from your proceedure.

I was starving from the morning of the second day but I can say use the guidelines your surgeon gave you together with the advice the others here have given. If you are waiting to feel hunger, and don't you may need to eat on a regular schedule in order to get the nutrients in. I can almost guarantee this is a temporary problem and soon enough you will be having your stomach shrieking at you to be fed.

It sounds as if you are off to a good start on your journey. It is confusing at times so never be afraid to ask your surgeon or if not medical ask us.

Good luck, Sue

Thank you to all of you.  I am really trying to do everything just the way I was instructed, then I am throwing in the how do I know how am I supposed to feel.

I am going to just do as you all said and eat and drink what i am supposed to. Get in all my supplements.

This is a truely a new journey (overwhelming at times) and one I'll take one small step at a time.

I am glad I am not the only one, sometime I feel very alone in this journey.  I do know people to talk with and am able to call my doctor anytime, but still very difficult.  I too am hungry; however, everyone says it is not a physical hunger....I am like take a ride in my body and tell me what I am feeling.

I have moved onto phase 3, soft/pureed foods.  Today for lunch having tuna fish (very broken up).  I had couscous last night.  I am enjoying expanding my food choices a bit.

Congrats to you as well, keep me up to date if you'd like.

Hi, just follow your surgeon's eating plan.  I have never felt "full".  My new full is a not hungry feeling and can go 3+ hours without being hungry.

Congrats on your surgery!
