another quick question?

Okay, so I'm 2 weeks out and my doc said I could do egg beaters, yogurt, egg salad 1 yolk to every 3 eggs w/ light mayo, tuna, tuna salad, chicken salad, but not like a chicken breast, and soft fish...My question is, I am staying in my eating guidelines and getting my 60 grams of protein in a day, menu is:
B: atkins shake
Snack: 4oz LF cottage cheese
Lunch, 1/2 c egg salad
Snack: yogurt
Supper: a 4 oz piece of fish

If I don't get my snacks in, sometimes that happens if I get crazy at work or home, I'm not full after a small pc of fish, so I eat my fish and yogurt?  is that okay?  i mean does it matter when we eat it?  I don't feel full after my fish sometimes, but if I eat the fish and yogurt, I feel full or I mean Im just not hungry anymore...Am I on the right track?  Please don't be afraid to speak up if you feel I'm doing something wrong or right!

Thanks so much!

gosh when I was allowed to start the mushy / soft foods like you are on now I was allowed one cup of food per meal and a snack if need be.  I would be hungry also if I only got a 1/2 cup of food per meal .

My doc breaks my meals down like this

1/2 cup protein cut up how you are going to eat it
1/4 cup of veggies
1/4 cup of veggies or carbs your choice.

4oz of any kind of meat most usually equals about 1/2 cup of food so when I go out to eat I know if I get around 4-6 oz of meat then Im on the good side of protein.

As long as you stay within your one cup of food per meal you will be just fine :o) There are times I might even eat a cup and half but it dont happen very often usually when I go out to a nice dinner then I enjoy myself a little more lol.

Wow!  Just fish for supper?  No vegies or carbs at all.  My hat is off to you if that works for you.  I would say if you need to have the yogurt with your fi**** should be fine.  My doc lets me  have more at meals, but wants no snax.  If you can stick with what you listed, you should do GREAT.

Are you allowed to add some veggies/fiber?

I ate a few tablespoons of mashed sweet potato with my protein for dinner -- or some well-steamed broccoli -- mashed up a bit

It doesn't seem like you are eating enough --- if you are not satisfied on the fish alone, I think it is fine to eat 4oz of fish with a small yogurt  ---- and maybe add another snack if you need to

I have always preferred to eat small/frequent meals, than to eat too much at 1 sitting.
I was terrified to 'stretch' or dilate my little pouch --- so I try not to do too much quantity at 1 time (but 4oz of fish and 6 oz of yogurt is not too much if you cant handle it --- the yogurt is a bit of a slider food for most people).

I don't know...but from seeing SO MANY BAND SLIPS throughout the years, they all had the same thing in common...eating solids BEFORE 6 weeks post op..and frequent vomting and aggressive fills....be very careful about introducing solid foods BEFORE your band heals REGARDLESS of what your doc says....most experienced bands surgeon who've done MANY do not allow their patients solid food before 4 weeks...good luck.

Sorry Nana, but many doctors, mine included have patients on solid foods 2 weeks post op...
It is the quantity of food, cutting food into tiny bites, eating slowly and chewing thouroghly that are most important.  Everyone should follow their medical professional's advice rather than ours...

I had solids at 2 weeks, 6 years with my band and no issues.

Let me say this is my opinion and only my opinion. It sounds like to me that at 2 weeks out, your swelling has completely gone down and you are able to eat a little more than previously. If that is the plan that your surgeon or NUT has laid out for you, then it is best to stick with it. That being said, if you aren't getting your snacks in, I see no reason not to be able to combine your yogurt with the fish you are eating. It is best to get in the habit of measuring your food. When you are eating the fish, are you putting it into a measuring cup or weighing it? Remember it is per volume and not weight. 4oz should fill half a cup. Get it the habit now and rememeber, just because you can, doesn't mean you should!

What type of fish are you eating? I loved tilapia when I was first banded and bought the Gorton's frozen grilled tilapia. Two little filets come in a package. I would cook and crumble them up into my 1 cup bowl and add some salsa and enjoy. Since you are only two weeks out, I understand the no veggie thing! But salsa is soft and goes down nice! At least for me it did!

Well I'm not allowed to have veggies or fruit yet, which really stinks cuz I love both, and I would think that they would want me to have some fiber, I NEED fiber right now, its like every 3-4 days anymore that I go...not good...

I have to confess I'm so scared to eat to much that I will gain weight or stretch everything.  I fought my family and my hubby for this, I don't want to screw it up...

Fish doesn't fill me up I could probably eat 2 of those pieces.  I don't measure it, because it is the frozen in the portion I need.  Its like those Gordons fish fillet, but its not breaded.  Its like butter and garlic...Oh is delish!  Yogurt fills me up, its one of those foods that if I eat to fast, I feel like I get pressure in my left chest area.....I am eating exactly the foods I was okay for, but they didn't really tell me how or when.  i was very disappointed with the meeting.  I see them again on the 18th.  I see the NUT and the RD, which I'm not sure why I see them both, but hopefully I will get more info AND I will take my list of questions with me.  that is the day I get my fill as well.....

Thank you all so very much....I love the honesty I get here!  thank you
