I lost 109lbs in 15 months. There are many who have lost well over 100lbs.

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

Sorry but I agree with your surgeon. My daughter just had her second band out two weeks ago and I will be having my second band out soon... I hope. Our bands were nothing but invasive and too much restriction even when they were empty.

Have you looked into the sleeve?
People have lost over 100 lbs with the band. It is very difficult though, more so than other surgeries. You will have to diet with the band. When posters say follow the program it means follow a diet. There are also problems associated with the band such as: erosion, flipped ports, and slips.
There are also problems with RNY too. My mom had it 2 plus years ago and is tiny! She lost over 100lbs under a year and her appetite is still not there.
The band has the smallest percentage of weightloss compared to other WLS.
There are many of us who have only lost 30lbs on average.
Please research thoroughly.

Im sorry with any WLS you get done you have to diet and change your eating habits. If you dont then you dont lose weight.  That goes for the lapband, gastric, sleeve and whatever else is out there .

"with any WLS you get done you have to diet"

in a way, that is correct...but then you have to talk about what you mean by "diet."  The "diet" I was supposed to follow when I had the band is very different from the "diet" I should follow--steak, eggs, cream in my coffee, cheese, nuts, peanut butter, that kind of thing--with the DS.

In any group of a hundred people, there are probably 2 or 3 sociopaths.  In a group of a thousand, more like 20-30.  They function very well in "affinity groups," where people have things in common and tend to trust strangers.  I am NOT saying not to trust anyone.  I AM saying that there are probably two dozen sociopaths hanging out here and looking for victims.  Most are NOT serial killers.

I eat all of that stuff, but in small amounts.

It's a lot of work with the band, I exercise at least an hour a day!  Maybe the surgeon thinks another procedure will do better for you with your Diabetes?

I don't have diabetes.

And based on EVERY bit of research out there, any wls would be better than the band.

Gosh I ate (and still do) all those types of things with my band and lost all my weight in 5 months. I was far stricter initially because I wanted to be, but I have never totally given up anything. Plus, when I log my food I don't even count the cream for my coffee because that is necessary to life, for me.
