Sharon T. helped get me on the grads group. and our lovely Kate helped the process too. Thanks Sharon T. and everyone for being so supportive. I still plan to hang out here too though.

Insisting on a members profile being open is asinine at best.I was a member there for a long time but I never really read or posted over there much. Try to PM Chelle and ask her to let you in.

I was banded in 2002 by Dr. Rumbaut and reached my goal after a year. Just joined OH a few days ago. I tried to get into the Band Grads group because of referred left shoulder pain I'm having, and am looking for common experiences among band veterans. I'm not going to maintain an open profile though, and will probably not post much. I'm here for information and support. Have not been successful at messaging anyone in the group.

You'll have better luck with our failed band group, probably, in finding people who have the referred left shoulder pain. (Which is VERY common with banding, by the way.) We have several threads on the failed group discussing it.

Thanks, Nic. I've seen some of your posts about the topic: very informative. I'm at the point where I have accepted it may have to come out...the pain has just gotten too frequent and intense to live like this. Hard decision. At least I don't feel like I'm alone with this anymore, or that it's all "in my head."  Thank you again.

Hi Bengalchick,

I was just reading your posts over there. I'm glad you found us. Sorry for the cir****tances, however.

If quality of life has become an issue, you're right, you'll want the band taken out. The left shoulder pain I experienced when banded was a constant, neverending stabbing. I wasn't sure band removal would alleviate it, even. But after removal, the pain went from excruciating to seldom. I still get episodes about once a week... but to a much lesser degree.  It really takes the nerves a long, long time to heal.

Wishing you the best with whatever you decide to do. We'll be here to help if you need us.

Right now, the issue is about finding someone to remove the band, since I was banded in Mexico and my follow-up doc here in CT (CLEARLY) leaves much to be desired. I was self-pay in Mexico, and now am hoping insurance will cover removal. I do not want a revision to anything else. I am terrified about losing my band after ten+ years, but feel like the punishment has gone on long enough. The removal surgery itself makes me nervous too...
