Thanks Kate. Hope it does not make them mad though. It may be because my profile was private. I am not very tech savvy I'm afraid.

Try again!  It could have been a miss sight or your profile was set to private... sorry for the inconvenience.

Oh no! Our mods don't get mad!  Think kind but fairly strict aunties!!

Kate

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

I was turned down because I didn't have my profile open to the public.   At 58 if I wanted an open profile I would have one.   I am extremely happy with this board!

I believe the mods need access to the member's profile so they can scope out the person and hopefully screen out trolls.

One way to do it would be to friend one of the mods, like bethmal, so that she can see your profile, at least long enough to check you out.

A lot of you weren't active on OH back in the olden days when the band grads group was started. The strict group membership rules were designed to keep out troublemakers from other forums. If you think the negativity and nay-saying on the band forum is bad now, you should've seen it back then. It was wild. Believe me when I say, this forum is better now. And there's nothing strange and special going on in the band grads forum. It's just another group of bandsters, not all of whom are at goal, who are at least 12 mos post-op. That's it. I like the group because I can go there when I have questions that I can't expect newbies to answer, but there isn't a lot of action over there (and I mean that in the nicest possible way!) compared to the main band forum.

Maybe its because you look so very different? I remember you from when you were freshly banded and you're barely recognizeable. You've done great.

I'm sorry you are upset about BandGrads, but, we have a certain criteria we have to follow. OH rules. In order to keep our Forum free from hassles, and a lot of bad elements, we have to screen everyone. When we see a "Closed," profile, we need to have it open for anyone who would like to get to know you, and hear your experiences with the Band. You must be at least a year out, and have been active on the regular board. Also, we like to see at least a partially filled out profile. Unfortunately, there are people who are very devious, and want to get in, and cause problems. We like our slow paced, quiet board, and have a great family. You have been accepted as a member, and I hope you enjoy the friendly atmosphere. If I respond to applicants, I always explain what is needed. We welcome anyone who meets all of our criteria. I did want to add, you do not have to be at goal to join. Thanks~

It was the profile thing I'm sure.    Because same thing happened to me.  I made my profile public and then was accepted.  I THINK I put it back private again.. LOL.. don't remember.  Off to check.
