I got to meet the lovely Lisa O last night and have dinner with her.

Lisa is even more beautiful and sweet in person than she is here in her posts.

From the first time I joined OH, 2 years ago, Lisa has been a friend and a mentor to me.
It was a really nice treat to get to meet her in person.

I encourage all of you to reach out when you can and get to meet each other in person.

Kath,

Isn't she wonderful? And she's dog and cat lover. And she's funny.

I clicked on this thread a moment after coming to OH to brag about getting to meet another OH member this weekend...I'm FINALLY going to get to meet Debbie Jean when I'm in Nashville this weekend. I am SO psyched, because lilke Lisa has been to you, Debbie was one of the people who helped and encouraged me when I was a newbie.

I've had the pleasure of meeting 4-5 OH members in person here in the south, and a dozen or so in the northwest. It's great to put a body and a speaking voice and a hug together with the face and written "voice" and cyber-hugs we get here on OH.

Hi!!
My name is Farrah, I am 50 years old and I have been at 200 to 220 for the last 6 years. Before that I was 70 pounds lighter and never had any weight problems even after having 3 kids!!!

I have tried everything, even became a vegan... I lose some weight and the weight comes right back!!! So I am thinking to go for the lap-band surgery. I came upon your post and just wanted to know your opinion.. are you happy with your decision? Any advice you can give me? how was your experience? After the surger, did you miss eating food? Is it a struggle to NOT eat or you are full and don't want to eat.

Thank you. Farrah

Farrah, read old threads. You will find lots with titles which show they are asking this Q. That way you will see lots of replies!

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

In addition to what Kate suggested, Farrah, I would also like to suggest that you start your own thread with your question, because you'll get a lot more responses that way.

Anyway, I'm very happy with my band and have never regretted my WLS choice. But your choice of a WLS procedure should depend on more detailed research and input than just the fact that Jean M. has no regrets. The suitability of the band for you will depend on your eating  habits (volume eater? sweets eater? snacker/grazer?), lifestyle, obesity-related medical conditions, financial & insurance situations.

Yes, meeting people is the best!

But may I just point out that i went to all the trouble of flying across the Atlantic to meet OH people (OK so not entirely just to meet OH friends!) and I have yet to have a single one of you make the effort to come over here!!!!

Come on, folks! Coffee is on and getting cold!

Kate,

Lisa and I have discussed that very idea.  You'd have to ask Lisa what's holding her back. I have a valid passport all ready to go. I just have to figure out how to trick my husband into taking care of all these dogs and cats while I'm gone, because when I go back to the UK, it's not just going to be for one lousy week!

I think everyone should come visit Iowa in the summer to see all the cornfields, beanfields, cornfields, beanfields....hahaha

Wish I could travel, but with two soon to be  in college, I'm not traveling anytime soon.  Or if I won the lottery, but ... I don't play.

Glad you got to meet Lisa!
