Liquid Diet Day 1 - R.I.P. Soda

Today is Day 1 of my 3 week pre-op liquid diet.  So far so good...  of course, that's probably easy to say since I'm only 4 hours in.

At my WLS seminar, one of the presenters (successful bandster, 5 years out) mentioned that she had a 'funeral' for pizza and for soda before her surgery.  When she said it, I thought to myself "Well, that's the craziest thing I ever heard!"

That was until last night.  My friends took me out for "one last dinner" last night (like I won't ever eat dinner again, I guess  ).

I got a glass of a (really great) Chardonnay and then it hit me that I realized that I actually felt a little sad that, going forward, I will not be able to order my favorite "Club Soda - preferably, Seltzer if you have it - with 4 lime wedges, please!".

I manage food issues (*shocker*) and now that I have my surgery date, it tangibly hit home last night that I will have to completely eliminate certain foods and beverages forever to position myself for the success I am seeking with the help of this tool.

So, my takeaway was that I should not have been so dimissive of that whole "funeral" concept and I should probably start journaling again now, as opposed to waiting until after the surgery since I am sure more of these "aha" moments will follow.

I didn't have a funeral, but I did have a moment of silent meditation to appreciate the significance of the changes I am committed to making to be successful at losing weight and keeping it off for the first time in my life.

Thanks for listening!

(((HUGS)))   It is tough but you can do it.  I miss my diet coke SO bad but I LOVE my band SO much !!!!  I will be perfectly honest here ....the 2 wk liquid diet before and 2 wk liquids after  was one of the hardest things I have ever done but it really helped me work on my relationship with food .NOT being able to have it did help me realize I COULD do w/o it !   You will likely have all kinds of emotions and mood swings and second guesses in the next few wks but HANG IN THERE !!!! It is all worth it.:)  Come on here and vent away .Start your blog on here it helps you vent alot and it helps others behind you know what to expect! Lots O luck to ya !

Thank you so much!  I'm really surprised at how antsy I feel already and it's just day 1!!!

I was thinking that I must really have some serious issues if I'm already having anxiety after only a few hours without my carb-infested breakfast and lunch.  I did Atkins a few years ago (FAIL), but I don't remember having anxiety from the first day.

At first I was irritated that I had to do 3 weeks, but now it looks like it's a good thing I am.

Thanks, again~!

As you go on you may actually feel emotionally like you have PMS because as you loose weight you release hormones that were stored in the fat and it can be quite the ride LOL . BUT....if you know what it is and know  you are not going crazy you can deal with it. Remember to be patient with yourself you are going thru a big change. :)

You will be okay I just did all that about four months ago :o) the first four days or so will be the hardest so get ready lol.

Like somebody else said I was so dang moody it was awful , I cried, I slept alot because I was tired, I was hungry and I was a ***** to be blunt about it lmao .

My poor family especially my hubby he is my best friend also and he took alot of screaming, yelling and crying from me and held strong so that helped alot .  He could do nothing right the two weeks before surgery and the two weeks after surgery lol.

The pop you wont miss it ,  I drin**** tea now on the weekends to get away from the water and I like to drink G2 as a treat also .   I know some people that can drink soda but to me its not worth it I know me to well if I would be able to drink it without any problems then I would drink it so I just dont even try lol.

I had to do all this through Thanksgiving. I had my surgery three or four days before Thanksgiving and cooked Thanksgiving for my family I bawled like a baby lol.  It wasnt that I was hungry I was so tired of liquids at that point I just wanted to eat something lol.

But , Im down 46 pounds now in four months so it was all worth it :o)

OMG, I cannot imagine getting thru Thanksgiving on liquids!!!  Kudos to you for being able to cook and get thru it (tears and all).  LOL!

I was just thinking to myself that with just a little provocation,  I could really cry right now myself!

I still have  shakes to go today, so I think I will have one now and one in about 3 hours... not sure how to space them out, but I better figure out something better than I did today because I was a complete "B" at work this afternoon!

Take care~!
