More than likely you're talking about the upper G.I. barium swallow which consists of you drinking barium drink while xrays are taken. This will show if you have any obstructions or ulcers.

and if the radiologist and/or technician will turn the monitor where you can see.. you can see your band, your port, the tubing and the barium flowing through your esophagus into your upper stomach and through the banded area into the lower stomach.
It should also show whether the band is in good position and how tight it is.

I try to get an UGI yearly. My banding doc doesn't require one, I want one for my peace of mind.
