Hi, new to this journey

I figured it was time to introduce myself.  Do you know that when you google lap band forums that OH doesn't come up?? Weird.  But I have known this site exists since 2005 when I started researching WLS.  I did not get WLS back in 2005 and then proceeded to lose 137 pounds on my own.  Lo and behold, I was successful in gaining all of it but 25 pounds back by the beginning of 2011.  I'm sure that is not a huge surprise to anyone.

I had the Lap Band surgery on 3/29/2011.  I am one week post op today.  I will be going in to see my surgeon tomorrow to take care of a seroma that developed at the largest incision, the port site.  I'm not looking forward to it but it has to feel better than this huge lump and discomfort I am feeling now.

As for the surgery itself, it went well.  I had a lot of gas but that has dissipated.  I am not hungry yet but I know that its on its way!  I'm still full liquids because the PA in my surgeons office basically said if I wasn't hungry yet not to push the progression.

Thank you all for the recipes and the tips.  This site is invaluable!

Welcome Donna! Best wishes on your journey.
No, the loss and gain is not a surprise. An exercise my surgeons office had me do on my first visit was to write down every "diet" that I have been on, how much I lost, then gained, etc...when we finished I added up how much I had lost in my life...it was over what my actual weight was...and I weighed 320#s at the time! What an eye-opener!
Glad to have you here!

We all go on diets and when we get to goal we vow we will  never gain the weight back.  Ha.  Congrats on your surgery and much success on your future weight loss.

Donna,
Welcome to the losers bench, we've moved over for you! Glad to hear your surgery went pretty well, the gas is probably the worst part. Come back and post more often. It was very valuable to me in my first couple of months. Good luck on your new weight loss journey!!

HA!  That's cute, Kate!!  Good one!

Donnamarie......welcome to the board!  And congrats on being banded!  I was banded a week before you, on 3/22.  This is the greatest place to find information and ask for advice.  There's a great group of people here to help.

Good luck to you!

Welcome Donna!  Congrats on your surgery and we are all working hard to keep making more and more room for the newbies!  Yay!

I was also a pro at losing weight AND gaining weight.  My biggest concern before the band was already focused on the maintenance portion of the journey.  I now know that I will be okay.  I'm working on getting to MY goal and these last pounds are beyond slow, but I'm thrilled.  I'm in the best physical shape I have ever been since a teen.  On Spring Break, I made it to the top of the climbing wall.  It was a goal of mine since before surgery 21 months ago.  It was more than just getting to the top, it was about this weight loss journey and it meant so much to me to be able to do this.  I could go on and on about how having the band has helped me!

I'm sure that seroma area will feel so much better once it's drained.  Keep us updated!

Thanks so much for all the welcomes!!!

In a few hours I am going to be at my surgeons office having my seroma taken care of.  It has taken up the better part of my upper stomach and sitting across my diaphragm it feels like!! The PA has assured me that once they drain it I will feel better.  UGH this hurts.  I'm just afraid when they remove the pressure that I will be ravenously hungry again!!  Wow, what I wouldn't do for restriction, huh?

Thank you again for the warm welcome.  I am finding these boards to be invaluable in my journey, even the bad parts!
