Kate, very well put. I needed to hear the info you posted. I have been gaining weight just because I am not using my "tool" the way I should be by grazing, eating junk, etc. Thanks again, and I always enjoy your posts. Anne

Once again you are spot on. I had somehow "gotten" that point before my surgery and it has worked for me. I make the choices, my band just gives me a fighting chance to succeed. Never before have I been able to9 keep weight off and now I have a bit of help. The rest is up to me. Thanks.

BTW, I love your pic. very pretty! Sue

That does explain a lot.  So about how much food can you eat?  1/2 a cup?  1 cup?

Kutssa, people vary and foods vary - and in the UK we don't use cups!! But if I start a meal with solid protein, I can eat, say, about 3 oz of chicken or 3 oz of fish, plus perhaps 1/2 a carrot, plus maybe a small new potato!

BUT if I start with something less dense, say a shepherd's pie, I can eat much more. And if i take  a long, slow meal, I can start again! The trick is to always start with dense foods, then not to stay sitting in front of food long enough for things to go down too well! This does mean that it is very easy to overeat when eating out! Less so in the US-  I found that as soon as I put my cutlery down, a waiter whisked my plate away. In Europe, waiters wait until everyone as finihsed eating - so that means the temptation lingers longer!

Kate -- Great post!  I have been coming back to OH to 'remember' all great support this forum and my work since 2004 has given me.  It's very easy to fall off and graze and stop doing fills, etc., and think well 'I have a lap band'.  I am remembering that my commitment to the 'whole' process needs to happen.  My tool is there to help me, but I am in charge of which way it will go.  I am glad I came upon you post, helps alot.  Take care.
