Few days out... spitting up already...
So I already put in a call to my doctor and I'm waiting for him to call me back, but I'm a little worried.
I have been out of surgery 4 days now (surgery was Thursday morning) and this afternoon, I started spitting up. I know its called PBing or slimming or whatever, but its not with food so it might be different.
Every once in a while, so far 3 times today, I feel like I am going to throw up, my mouth and stomach get very hot, and I start collecting saliva in my throat. I rushed to the bathroom and was able to spit it up and I felt much better in a matter of minutes, but I still feel like something isn't right.
It happened twice while sipping on Isopure - slow, I swear! - and then the third time on nothing at all. I hadn't touched my Isopure since the last time!
Anyone else with similar experiences? Anyone have any advice on how to avoid it?
*update - doctor just called, said it was normal because my stomach is still swollen around the band and if it continues he can take a little of the air out*

Yes you are very swollen from surgery but don't hesitate to have a bit of fluid taken out. Hot drinks helped me because it soothes that tissue, it still helps when I feel tight. Good luck, and congrats on your surgery.
Continue to contact your surgeon with any concerns, don't let things go. Good luck, Sue

Just make sure you can keep enough fluids down to stay hydrated. I didn't have any fluid in my band for 3 months ( my choice) and lost 30 pounds. You need to be able to get adequate hydration and nutrition in, so please let your surgeon knows if you can't tomorrow. I have never PB'd ever and only 4 stucks in 21 months. Also did they give you an anti nausea med to take? I have Zofran available if I get nauseated. You don't want to throw up with your new band.
Thanks, Kristi. As of right now not much is staying in. I just drank a little chicken broth and 15 mins later I was in the bathroom sliming. Everything I am spitting up is clear, but I have the same concerns as you. I am trying something a little more solid (some sorbet) in hopes of settling my stomach. We'll see. No nausea meds for me. The doctor told me that if I'm still having trouble tomorrow he would take out some of the air in the band to allow the swelling to go down. Hopefully I'll feel better by then.

They use saline ( sterile salty water ) when they do the fills, so they will insert the needle in your port and then pull back on the syringe to pull some fluid out for the unfill.
Please call right away in the morning if it doesn't get better! If you get dehydrated it can make you nauseated.
Let us know what happens!

Unfortunately, this is my second time around with the lap band! I had a few fills and 1 unfill since my initial surgery in December. Long story short, my doctor thought my band was unlocked, but really the stitching came loose and the band was too big for my stomach. It was replaced this past Thursday and now I'm starting from scratch! I didn't think I'd be redoing this diet so soon - well, ever! The doctor said the band comes with some air in it, but no saline, which could aggravate the swelling. Taking some out might give me some relief.
Does it sometimes get worse at night? I was fine all day until about 4pm. I ate yogurt, pudding, drank Isopure, etc... now nothing is staying!
I'll let ya know how this sorbet went (hopefully it stays) and how I feel in the morning... Thanks!

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh, I'm sorry I did read about your situation and forgot. sorry... so he needs to get some air out. Are you nauseated or it's just not staying down? Ask if you could get a script for Zofran for nausea. I have the ODT ( oral dissolving ) kind where you just put it under your tongue and it dissolves. I like to know I have it for "just in case" situations.
Okay, I will keep my fingers crossed for you!
