Relax , take a deep breath and quit over thinking. it will mess you up. Keep reading your docs instructions over and over. I can and do eat everything. I can swallow my pills without any problems. It takes awhile to get to good restriction. You should lose weight consistently ****il the dreaded plateau). Take it one day at a time, the band works.
I don't know what your nutritionist told you, but mine told me that bread, spaghetti, cookies, cake, and any food that is high glycemic is going to be a very once in a while treat, if your level of fill will even allow you to eat them. I can eat angel hair pasta, but not any other kind...I eat the meatballs (homemade) and sauce or a low fat chicken sausage and skip the pasta almost always. I don't eat bread unless it is very well toasted and only with breakfast...such as a half english muffin with my poached eggs on occasion.
The fill doesn't cause you to lose, your adhering to your eating plan will. It won't stop you from eating, but will cause you great distress and potential complications if you over eat. Measuring your food, taking tiny bites and chewing completely is very important, as well as eating protein at every meal...chicken, fish, meat, eggs, etc, as your primary food. Stopping before you are full is important, because you won't feel full the same way you did before surgery. Your soft-stop signs; a little cough, runny nose or hiccup, let you know you are done.
Hope this helps!

what about bread, popcorn, spaghetti, an no no foods?do you never eat them, or puree spaghetti/noodles?
also do you usual start loosing more weight with the 1st file?
thanks.
I don't puree anything...ewww. After three fills, I'm at a good place. I eat three meals a day (1 cup food per meal) and stay satisfied for 3-4 hours and I'm losing an average of 1-2 lbs a week.
I can stay at the same weight for a couple of weeks and then drop 5 lbs but it still averages out.
Don't forget that you can be losing inches while the scale stays the same. My pants don't lie! I'm dropping sizes..started out 22/24 and now in size 16.
I can eat bread but I have to be careful to chew it very well and in small bites (think pencil eraser size). I have no problem eating popcorn at all so I have to limit that or I will overeat. I can eat spaghetti just fine too. If I eat too fast, I WILL start to get stuck so I've learned to eat slow and really savor each bite.
In fact, I can eat just about anything I ate before surgery but just in children's portions now. I have trouble with re-heated chicken because it gets too dry.

5.0 cc in a 10cc lapband (four fills) 1 unfill of .5cc on 5/24/2011.
.5 fill March 2012. unfill of .25cc May 2012. Unfill of .5cc June 2014.
Still with my lapband with no plans for revision. Band working well since
last small unfill.
HW: 267lbs- size 22-24 LW:194lbs CW:198lbs Size 14-16
I don't puree anything.
I eat everything.
Fills don't make you lose weight! The amount you eat does that . Fills just make it a bit easier to control the quantity. Many peopel do not get restriction until after several fills.

Highest 290, Banded - 248 Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.
Happily banded since May 2006. Regain of 28lbs 2013-14. ALL GONE!
But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

I'm with you Kate..I eat everything also..I got the band to help me eat less and it is doing it..
I don't feel like I am on a diet..Eating low carb helps with the loosing, but being happy and not freaking out over every little thing is worth the 2 lbs I might loose extra...Maybe it's a age thing?

For the majority of us bread, pasta, cause stuck episodes. When you get stuck you will vomit until it comes up.
You have to follow a diet with the band to lose weight. This includes very low carb. No sweets, breads, pastas, etc
Keep researching all of the wls. The band has the lowest percentage of weightloss. I wish I had researched more before I went through with this.
You will have to diet forever with this. A lot of bandsters look to revise to the sleeve or the ds. Some start following weigh****chers diet adkins.
It will take a few fills before you will feel fuller. This indeed helps physical hunger but not emotional.

I have not had popcorn since I had my band --- I think I am going to have some tonight when I go on my 'movie date' with my husband (going to see The Lincoln Lawyer).
I eat bread rarely --- here is the thing, I cannot take a big enough bite of anything to eat bread with anything else (my bites are pea-sized) -- so, I eat the fillings of a sandwich, and maybe a mice-sized bite of the bread.
When we hike hard, we usually stop at In-n-Out burger --- I get a small burger, and I remove 1 piece of the bun, fold the remainder in 1/2 and eat about 1/2/ of it -- very, very slowly -- YUM.
Pasta -- I eat an orzo salad (from the deli counter at Safeway) -- again, small bites.
My surgeon and I keep the band fluid loose enough that I can eat tiny amounts of anything, really.

I can eat pasta, but I choose not to because 1) high glycemic 2) high calorie (for the portion size).
What I do instead is to grate zucchini and use it for my pasta. Or you can use spaghetti squash.
Just got to think out of the box. :)
Yes, I can eat popcorn. I try to limit myself to the 100 calorie bags..
