Wow - not what I expected to find
It's an open board - we get anyone who cares to post and, as in any social group, some are nice people, some aren't! It's not hard to deal with, just identify the people whose posts you don't want to read and block them - you'll never see their posts again! And they won't see your posts either so you needn't be afraid to open up! There are quite a few anti-band people on here but most of them are still very supportive fo those bandsters who have problems and I think all the pro-bandsters will always be supportive. So press that block button and you won't know the drama is going on!
Sorry about all your current problems. Hope your MIL is on the mend.

Highest 290, Banded - 248 Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.
Happily banded since May 2006. Regain of 28lbs 2013-14. ALL GONE!
But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,
Wendy, in 2 months you can join the Band Grads group. There is no danger at all of ever being "judged" on there. It is totally drama free!

You mean the Grads group? Open to all who are banded (or ex-banded) and over 12 months post-op. Drama is OUT! Any nastiness and the (wonderful!) moderators politely ask us to stop; if people continue to be nasty, they are (politely) ejected!
Often quite quiet but a lovely friendly place; never anything but support.

Hi Wendy...glad you had a nice vacation, but so sorry about your MIL's illness. Stress can really cause us to have eating difficulties, be tight and resort to slider foods...been there, done that. Recognizing that you got through a very stressful event with just a hiccup (no pun intended) is good! Every time we get through something like that, we learn new skills and to manage our stress response a bit better by reflecting on it. I have an almost 90 yr old FIL who is very frail, but lives on his own and we spend a lot of time travelling to be with him and relieve the rest of our family from the responsibility of making sure we honor his wishes and keep him safe...he is aphasic (except for having a potty mouth) and operates on a 12 yr olds level as far as judgement is concerned....stress is an ongoing issue when you are blessed with someone like this.
Hugs to you and your family and glad your MIL is doing better. Post away, there are many here who will step up and cheer you on.
