Moving to Florida

Hi everyone hope you are all well.
We are moving to Florida (Fort Lauderdale), we'll be there 4/15, I have found a Dr. Bass in Hollywood and was wondering which of you have him for a Dr. and how do you like him.  I was very pleased with the woman who answered the phone.  She was very helpful and kind.
Any input will be greatly appreciated!.

May I be the first to welcome you to Florida!!!  You'll love it.....now that the rain has stopped.  I've lived here 6 yrs, from Maine, and I never saw so much rain as I have this week.  Woke up to the sun this morning and was very happy to see it!  I don't know about your dr, sorry.  I wish you the best.

I don't think we have many from FL on here. Tami is from the panhandle so prob. not familiar, and the other regular FL bandster has not been on in a few mos.

You would prob. get a more responses posting on the FL forum.

I looked at the Florida forum and one of the OH administrators listed a bunch of Docs in the area and Dr. Bass was on there.  His office is one of the Centers of Excellence. So I am going to try to see him when we get there.

Yes, I had my lap band done with them nearly 3 years ago. Couldn't be happier. His wife, Tiffany, works in the office and is amazing. From the first time I inquired via email to my date of surgery was less than 6 weeks!!!! They handled all the insurance work and everything very quickly. They are in the same building as Memorial Regional Hospital. They have lots of support groups and it's never a problem getting an appointment...a feature I value highly!!!

Thank you TIR, I had my band placed May of '09, I was very pleased with the team I had at first.  I started going to the support groups but they were just  for local businesses to sell us product or services, or the Doc took up all the time lecturing us.  We hardly ever got to say anything. Then When we moved 490 miles away (same state) and I needed a referral to a new Doc ,his office manager refused and said I should travel to their office for follow ups.  So needless to say I haven't seen anyone since June of 2010 and I have gained 8 lbs.  I am trying very hard to lose it again and am doing better.  I am looking forward to joining a support group when I get there (we leave in 4 more days!!) Do you recommend any one in particular? Also they are going to need a Upper GI test before Dr. Bass can see me.  I don't have insurance, any idea on how much that costs?
