Unlocked lapband... not unlocked.
Hi all... I am now home from the hospital recovering slowly but surely.
Turns out the band wasn't unlocked like the doctor had originally predicted. Apparently some of the stitches came lose around the band and it was ineffective because it wasn't tight around my stomach. Or something like that........ The doctor said it was because I switched to solid foods too quickly, which we all know is a potential complication from not following the post-op diet, but I followed the diet to a "T." So, I'm not really sure what happened there and neither is he.
Also, usually my doctor uses a smaller band (still 10ccs, but smaller) in women, but for whatever reason, a larger band was used on the day of my surgery. The surgeon said this was clearly a mistake and he is going to look into the cir****tances surrounding my original surgery and find out why this occurred. He said that it shouldn't REALLY matter, but its just his personal preference.
SO long story short I got a new, smaller band, which I can already feel working (6oz of Isopure in the hospital and I was actually FULL!). I have to start from scratch in terms of post-op diet and fills, not to mention weight loss.
My mom and boyfriend keep talking about what went wrong in the first surgery and it's just annoying me. In my opinion it doesn't really matter what happened then, all that matters is I am back on the horse and ready to go! So, I have to start from scratch and that sucks, but better late then never. I am now ready to rock and roll!
Thank you all for your support today and this past week!

Excellent news! And I am with you on this - just move on! Things happen, hopefully they will check up to see what happened so it doesn't happen to anyone else! But you are past that and starting you "real" band journey!
