Good evening everyone!!!

I had my surgery 3/23.  I don't have any fill in my band right now.  My question is, I know every doc is different, but do you think I will get a fill at my 2 wks post op on 4/5?  I am hoping that I get one.  I am very eager to start my journey and get this underway.  I have lost about 10 lbs since my sugery last week, but that is least of my concern, at least till the healing is done, but 21 lbs in all since I started the journey to WLS.....Anyway, I had my surgery at Geisinger in Danville, if that helps?

Thanks everyone!!

It's very unlikely! At one time, we all had to wait 6 weeks but nowadays some docs seem to be doing fills at 4 weeks. But 2 weeks would be very, very unusual. You don't want any strain on the unhealed internal sutures. And until we are eating normal foods, there is no way of telling whether we even need fills!

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

I think most docs wait at least 4 weeks and more likely 6 weeks before a fill because the stomach needs time to heal and the band needs to "seat" itself around your stomach so they don't like things getting moved around until several weeks out.

hmmmm, I'm a little worried, cuz I see him on Tuesday, but I am not scheduled with him again after that, but I'm scheduled w/ PA's(which Geisinger wont allow PA to do fills)....I hope I can get scheduled for a fill then...

Thank you very much for your information..

My surgery was 9/8/2010 and I didn't receive my first fill until November. I had my third fill today and my next appointment is 5/19/2011. He fills about every 6 weeks if needed. i think every 6 weeks is good for me because it gives me time to adjust, and evaluate my weight loss, head hunger vs real hunger, etc. Right now I am feeling a little tight but I am able to get and keep liquids down.

I feel your frustration.  I had to wait 6 weeks and I even gained 2 oz when I went to my first fill.  Got almost no restriction, but lost a pound or 2 because of the liquid diet when I went for the 2nd fill 2 weeks later.  More restriction and lost 3 1/2 lbs.  Thought I wouldn't have a fill, but because I was still getting hungry got fill #3.  I FINALLY now know what it's like NOT to get hungry.  About the only time I feel some hunger is between 12 noon and suppertime at 6:30 or 7.  I fix that with 1 or 2 cheese stix and/or an activia yogurt between 3:30 and 4:30.  I NEVER THOUGHT I would have to count calories to be sure I got enough.  Knock me over with a feather!  Let's hope it holds.

Debbie, does it really make you not feel hungry?  whats that like??  I couldn't imagine not feeling hungry?  wow....I don't plan on still doing shakes, but i do plan on doing as less carbs as the NUT says is okay....If I didnt feel hungry that would be great!

Jshiv, I sent you a message.  I inadvertently began to skirt around the uncomfortable dense proteins.
but what I was advised on OH was to cut the bites pea size, chew, chew, chew, and swallow, then wait.  No problems, do it again. And they were right.  Dense proteins do help with hunger so much more.  Thanks, Kate, Jean, and a few others.  And I had to sort out my own pangs of head hunger.  When your stomach is making such noises, it feels like real hunger.  There's stuff that's the same for almost everyone, and then there is a lot that is very individual.  You have started on the path.

My doc told me he would be giving me my first fill in 3 weeks that will be 6 weeks post op. I am anxious and nervous at the same time. I want to have that full feeling , but scared to death about something getting stuck or the band being to tight.. Congrats on your current weight loss. Thank you for those who posted as you bought some peace of mind to my concerns. Be Blessed.
